This is my problem with the veg options I've tried and I was going to ask the some thing. I'd love to try some new things and broaden my horizons a bit but I've yet to find an option which suits me.

Dog, cats, and the like don't have the mental capacity to make moral decisions and therefore are not capable of moral/immoral acts.

And yes, the "Why is it okay to kill vegetables and not animals and how do you know vegetables don't suffer?" IS the next question.
Generally speaking, no brain, no central nervous system = no suffering.

How is killing one thing rationalized as being "better" than killing another? I don't get it. I guess it is okay to kill lower forms of life? Are barnacles and snails okay? How far down the chain does one have to go until it is okay?
It's 'better' in the sense that they (veggies) do not have the capacity to suffer. Now, how far down the chain must we go? Non-sentient would probably be a good starting point.

Seriously, I just don't get the "ethical" holier-than-thou-meat-eater "rationale".

Explain pls.
I eat meat, but I don't think it's right the way some animals are killed in mass slaughter houses. Sometimes the cow is alive for quite sometime. Plus, I tend to dislike major corps who tend to cut corners to maximize their profits only to lobby and pay their way out of it.

Stuffing chickens in small ass cages isn't right, you have to admit at least that. Not only is it inhumane, it spreads disease rapidly.

We should reward the humane producers, ranchers and slaughterhouses by purchasing their products.

I have never experienced this. So if you eat an entire extra-large double cheese pizza you're not full?

I am vegetarian too.

Started about a half year ago and i have never regretted it.

Vegan would be tough though...

I think the movie/documentary "earthlings" sums it up pretty good.

Correct me if inaccurate, but none of them were vegan/vegetarian while building mass, i.e. they all became vegan/vegetarian after they were already built. Also, it's probably not a good idea to base what you do on what professional athletes with amazing genes (and possibly other "stuff") claim to do. Herschel Walker, for instance, claims to only sleep 5hrs a night and eat a singular meal a day, made up mostly of soup, bread and salad. Oh, yeah, and he claims not to lift weights either. Color me a bit incredulous.

That seriously cannot be healthy.

Although I must admit at one point in my life I stopped eating for a few days. I lost a ton of weight and for some reason I was able to keep it off even when I started eating again..I was so ****ing tired though it was unreal. I used to passout and take long ass naps. Never again will I starve myself.

Why I ask is because I am open to things, vegetarianism w/e. And have tried numerous times not to have some form of meat with a meal always with that result. So was hoping to hear "oh yea, that's normal, it goes away...etc"

idk why a high carb, high protein vegetarian meal would be any less satisfying than something with meat. try a blind experiment with veggie/meat hotdog covered in veggie/meat chili on alternating days

Because I guess I need to get my carnivore on? I dunno either.

Satiety index, I suppose. Also, animal proteins take the longest to digest of foodstuffs, so that may come into play as well.

Yes, but I'd assume he's more apt to knock back a 16oz steak than a pound of apples and oatmeal.

So a pizza with pepperoni would make you feel full and the same pizza without wouldn't?

Prob. as I mention, I suspect it is largely psychological. Obv I'll get full, but not feel fulfilled so end up heading for more food shortly thereafter. w/meat.

But only really eat pizza w/pepperoni, italian sausage, ham, sometimes bacon and maybe some vegetables to appease my veggie friends.

YB, when you move to Toronto once you're done university, I'll take you out a few days in a row for veggie meals that will leave you so full and satisfied you wouldn't mange to get down more than a couple of bites of a steak from Jacob's.

My dinner last night

Korean Tofu Stew (soondubu jjigae) with banchan.

What are some filling veggie meals that aren't (largely) liquid?, i.e. not a soup or stew.

pizza & pasta are pretty filling. burritos, rotis, curry dishes with rice and/or naan, falafel, veggie burgers, veggie sandwiches/paninis. Plus people just make any number of vegetarian dishes that have beans or tofu prepared lots of different ways, plus veggies, plus rice or quinoa or noodles or whatever carb, plus whatever sauce you want.

Last weekend I had red wine peppercorn gravy poured over pearl onions, seasonal veggies and meatless loaf towered atop potato & leek latkes. On the left of my dish is a veggie quesadilla, and next to that is veggie poutine.
