Re: Vegetarian-vegan thread

I have a few questions for the vegans.

Is eating roadkill ok?

How about killing invasive species?

Any sort of pest control? I mean what do you do if your house gets termites?

If I'm alive I will. Why do you think I would ever stop being vegan?

Re: Vegetarian-vegan thread

Hi guys -

This morning I made a french toast casserole, where I subbed out butter for vegan soy free butter, coconut milk for all the milk products, baguette, and chia seed egg substitutes.

Previously, I'd made this recipe with all the other modifications, but eggs, and challah. It turned out great.

This was my first attempt trying to make something with chia as egg substitute for vegans. (In fact, my first time cooking with any form of egg substitute.)

While things generally tasted good, the chia-laden custard didn't really set in the same way the eggs do. Should I have used a different egg sub? For what it's worth, I didn't think through how chia would work so instead of the recommended 5 minutes in water to bloom/whatever, it got closer to 15 minutes and was I think made denser by the extra time. That didn't seem to effect its ability to soak into the bread, which wound up quite wet even though I went to the max recommended cooking time for non-vegan option of 60 min.

I'd love to be able to cook something like this for vegan people and have it come out closer to the non-vegan option. Help?

Ill let others with more knowledge chime in, but Ive heard the best results come with flax, although with things like breakfasts bananas could be solid

Re: Vegetarian-vegan thread

proposition for the "amazin won't be vegan in x number of years crowd"

are any if you interested in a friendly bet? we can iron out the terms but here's what i had in mind:

you win: i host a lavish barbecue for you and some friends along with a hunting excursion

i win: you spend x amount of hours volunteering at an animal sanctuary and donate x amount to an animal rights organization

The problem with that kind of bet is that they are way too long to be entertaining and both party are super likely to disappear at some point making it pointless. 6month is super easy , 10 years you are super unlikely. what would be the cut off, i guess a couple of years is pretty reasonnable but **** a friendly 2 years bet with a stranger on a forum, that s the kind of bet you do with a close friend for obvious reasons.

Eddy, unless you deem yourself the winner in the event of my death, you have literally 0% chance of winning. I would sooner end my own life than cease being vegan

That kind of statement deserve to be in your best off with your dieing over taking any animal life to save yourself.
You sound super fake at best.
Will be fun to quote that when you ll give up.
Most Vegans here with a way longer track reccord that you would never say something that stupid.

If you were incarcerated with no hope of escape but with plenty of water and meat, would you eventually starve yourself to death?

If you aren't vegan anymore where would be the problem if you have to organize a BBQ.
