Oh wow. I hadnt thought of it in awhile, but i had exactly the cubital tunnel thing going on a couple years ago when i played live poker just about everyday for a couple weeks. Went away after not too long, but it did suck.

Gregorio, your elbow looks like a weird knee.

I did the exercises and got one of those sleeping braces which I used for about two months. Not much help, and the symptoms persisted with maybe a 5% reduction for the next few months.

6 months later update: noticed another reduction in symptoms, mostly reduction of weird twinging, though the pins & needles (paresthesia) was still there albeit slightly reduced. Symptoms reduced to around 65-70% of initial onset symptoms.

8 months later update: symptoms continued to reduce, very slowly. Now at 55-60% of initial onset. Almost no weird twinging, just the constant paresthesia which made ten finger typing impossible, and use of small finger almost non-existent unless in conjunction with rest of fingers, such as when gripping something.

10 month later update: symptoms continue slow decline. Paresthesia is still there, but much reduced. Much better tactile response/feeling in both fingers. Overall symptoms now at 40-45% of initial onset, maybe a touch lower. Noticed yesterday that I can finally engage in a limited version of ten finger typing. Have not been using small finger at all the last 10 months, and only rarely using ring finger. This initially resulted in significant frustration as I've always been a 90+ WPM typist and going much slower was pretty tilting. Eventually just figured out how to type without those two and let the other three fingers on that hand shoulder their load. Can now use ring finger most of the time, and small finger works some of the time but I don't want to use it too much for concern of losing any healing progress.

So it looks like I may possibly fade lol claw hand after all. I'd say I have my fingers crossed, but.. yeah.

If improvement ceases here then I'll probably still get surgery but as long as it keeps slowly improving, I'm going to continue the wait and see attitude. It's a pretty close call at this point, another 10% in symptom reduction and I'd probably forego surgery and just decide to live with it and treat it as a minor/moderate annoyance. That assumes regaining full ten finger typing functionality on at least some basis.

In conclusion, nerve damage sucks, is molasses slow to heal, and I don't recommend it. Stop leaning on your elbow.

Interesting stuff and thanks for the update.

Suspecting that I’ve developed a mild case of this due to prolonged use of a laptop on the couch, using the left arm rest to prop the arm up. Started getting some fairly sharp pain behind the left shoulder blade after times when laptop use was higher (a few days of several hours per). Eventually started getting what I assume to be ulnar nerve symptoms running down from the shoulder through the armpit down to the elbow with a bit of tingling down the inside of the arm.

When the “nervyness” would act up, I tried the flossing exercises but those seemed to ramp up the discomfort (though I’d only think of doing them while the sensation was occurring so it’s provably my fault).

Am also a left arm on the car window driver.

Trying to curb that habit and reducing couch+laptop time but that is one of my favorite pastimes so that stinks lol.

On the borderline of doctorsville but I assume I know the answer (stop doing those things) and it doesn’t impact my life enough for a surgical intervention at this point.

Would love to go back to my younger days where couch+laptop=happy and not sad.

This was close to 15 years ago and while I do have occasional discomfort and numbness, it's not been bad enough to entertain the thought of surgery.

My cousin recently had this diagnosis and he immediately requested the surgery.

He might have ulterior motives, tho...he figures with this diagnosis he's able to get painkillers easier.

I don't get how that would work, but he claims that's going to be a benefit.

Update.

Cuzzin got the operation and per prediction, its ****ed up.

He didn't go to therapy.

So now he's getting pain "management".

Pain pills prescription, just not as often as he would like.
