I don't use anywhere near all of my fingers, my hands float about the keyboard, I am now getting over 100 wpm. I do wish I had learned to type properly.

btw I typo'd - I meant RH ring finger, not 'right' finger.

Anyway, yea, my ring/pinky have a weird relationship on the right side of the keyboard too. Now that I really think about it, I use my right pinky correctly for all the keys on the bottom two rows, but on the top 2 rows, everything I should be using my pinky for I use my right ring finger.

I don't even know how its possible for people to get 130+ wpm. High score is like 184wpm. Is that legit or are they using a program?

I'd like to figure out how fast I type at my peak. Sometimes I'll go insanely fast for a sentence and then get tripped up on a word.

Got 109WPM but I feel like it could be a lot higher.

To the guys getting +130WPM, do you ever stall for a split second thinking what to hit or is it very fluid?

I did this test once with a broken keyboard and spent 6 seconds trying to figure out how to spell a word. I think it would be more accurate if it let you make mistakes. I was still surprised I got 97 wpm.

WTF! Are everyone here certified speed typists?!?! I'm only getting 55 wpm. DAMN QUOTATIONS!

I just watched 3 people not even finish a quote from Eat Pray Love. LOL 22 wpm.

What kinds of comps are people using? I know I don't type nearly as fast on my Macbook Pro as I would on a desktop.

112 was good for second place :/

Did 15 races, 107 WPM average. 127 and 126 were my best results, some texts were a lot easier than others. Fun game!

Anyone else panicking irrationally when they make a mistake?

Yeah this. My goal each time I play is to 1) break 100 wpm, then 2) come in 1st place in a race. I think they try to match you against similarly skilled people so doing it in that order is key.

Just did one of the 'authentication' tests with Alice in Wonderland, and I'm 'certified' to type at 189 WPM. Ludicrous really! Any private room here? Racing with a friend here http://play.typeracer.com/?rt=trdarkmemoria if anyone wants to join in the next little while.

Just moved into the 100th percentile of typers as well!

made me take some sort of dumb authenticator test. I can't prove this obv, but I only type with my index fingers. Sick brag imo, anyone else type like this?

I had to quit this game. I've had a problem using my fingers for life, I tend to get way too anxious trying to do things like sew or put together furniture and it becomes too uncomfortable to continue. This was happening playing this game even though it doesn't happen when I type normally. Seriously considering asking for anti-anxiety drugs.

First try 78wpm 98.4% accuracy.

I took a 1-semester "keyboarding" course in high school back in '95, but I think back then I was between 30-50wpm by the end of the course. Chatting on the net and posting on fora has given me tons of practice, thus the increase. I remember in class when the teacher told us to use the "J" index finger for "Y" people just about **** their pants. It seemed impossible. Heh.

I think I could average 130 if they would let me get a way with a few mistakes. I waste so much time trying to fix them

I don't think I could get 189/wpm if I just mashed keys.

I'm averaging 79/wpm and I thought that was good.

My habit of never typing "into" and always typing "in to" is killing me.

Sooga (I'd bet on him vs anyone) was around 130-140 on my mbp so I don't think there's much variance between them. He's about the same on either as far as I can tell.

I'd wager that the other fast typists on this site are about as fast as my fiancee, who is, imo, ridiculously fast. She's around 110-120 with 150+ bursts on ideal texts. Sooga crushes her pretty consistently by a decent margin (10-15 wpm).

I'm a typing tard and am sporadically between 65 and 90, highly dependent on what it is that I'm typing. Always on my mbp.

I honestly don't understand how anyone could be faster than Sooga, but I realize that there are people who go over 150 all the time. I don't even know if I'd be able to appreciate the difference.

We need the fast people in here to get into a room on typeracer for bragging rights.

139 on my Macbook Pro laptop keyboard. Could have been in the 140s but I messed up the middle part. At least it was good for #1:

My all-time high on Typeracer is 168, though the important thing is that there are all different kinds of texts, some of them being one sentence ones that you can crush, and others are paragraph long ones with long complicated words and numbers that are really difficult to type quickly. So to figure out your true max score you should do like 20-30 different texts.

I never think about which key I need to press next, but I will of course make mistakes and have to backspace to fix them. In order to type 130+ you need to be looking ahead and assume you are going to type 100% accuracy and go for it. For me, sometimes I will get 140 and sometimes I will get 100 depending on how many mistakes I make and how hard the text is.
