To make this clear, painlessly might be some sort of magical death, but it means w/o an iota of pain.

By brutal I mean dying in agonizing pain for 12 hours.

Since I can't create two poles in one thread, please use checkbox for each question.

So the questions are:

Would you rather die painlessly tomorrow or brutally in 25 years.

Would you rather die painlessly RIGHT NOW or brutally in 24 hours.

EDIT: This post was inspired by an episode of Law and Order SVU I just watched. This guy almost died, but had bypass surgery to save his life. A few months later, he was murdered after watching his wife be raped.

EDIT 2: I live w/ my girlfriend but have no kids. I assume outlook will be different for people with different priorities (newborns, for example).

I'd take painless death right now vs. painless death in 25 years. Someone come over and shoot me in the head while I sleep please.

I think I might choose the brutal death in 25 years if I wasn't aware of it until the actual event. Thats going to be a seriously awful 25 years if you have that hanging over you. Painless death right now pour moi.

i voted for all 4 because i could. The most obvious solution is to commit suicide in 24 years or so.

"Would you rather die painlessly tomorrow or brutally in 25 years."

is anyone actually going to say die now?

"Would you rather die painlessly RIGHT NOW or brutally in 24 hours."
give me those 12 hours

a better question is would you rather spend your last 12 hours with your wife and kids or a cheerleading squad?

A) I picked die now.
B) You would begin the dying process in 24 hours, so you would have a full 24 hours before you began your 12-hour demise.

The awesomeness of this question lies in the fact that either one of these statements has to be true:

You will be immortal for 25 years, then die a brutal death.

or

You will be able to kill yourself peacefully right before you are supposed to brutally die.

Unless there is a clause that says you can die before the 25 years are up, provided that it is brutal.

I originally voted "die in 25 years" over "die painlessly now", but the more I think about it, the closer it gets.

Think about trying to live a happy life, knowing that eventually you are going to be put through the most agonizing pain of your life, for 12 straight hours. 12 hours is a LONG ****ING TIME to be in agonizing pain. I think it would be really hard to enjoy anything, knowing what awaits you.

I'm assuming there is a "no death" clause, otherwise I would just live 24.99 years and then shoot myself obv.

How brutal are we talking here? The choices are both pretty simple though unless we're talking days/weeks of torture involved in the brutal death. Live 25 extra years, and take the painless death for the extra day.

For those knocking on the people choosing painless death tomorrow, when would you draw the line? Obviously at some point we all choose to die tomorrow in our sleep.

Painless death tomorrow or torturous death in x years.

As a forensic pathologist I routinely ask my patients how bad it hurt, no luck so far. Empirically though, I would guess that the average labor/birth process has 10x the amount of pain 90% of my patients suffered prior to me trying to figure out what happend, so put that on your poll.

Nothing is more valuable than time imo, I can spend time with my loved ones that will last in their memories after I am dead. The pain I experience, however, will disappear the instant I die.
