travel over seas with over 10k in cash.. travel over seas with over 10k in cash..

a close friend of mine (who also plays poker) is traveling overseas next few weeks and asked me what to do if he's bringing over 10k in cash (I believe he won those $$ from casino so he prolly doesn't wanna pay tax) w/ him...

I have never encountered situation like this so I didn't really know what to tell him.

Does he need to claim the amount of the $$?

What if he doesn't and split those cash in backpacks, carry-on, pocket and suitcase?

anyone been in this situation before?

technically if you tear all the bills in half then you don't have any money that need be declared. just bring scotch tape with you, reattach when you get there. columbian drug smugglers have been using this loophole for years.
