Getting to critical mass for me with inflation on restaurant bills. Officially cutting way back just on principle alone. Last weekend I sat at the bar of a decent restaurant with wife and another couple. Drinks, 2 apps & 4 medium pricepoint entrees left us with a bill of almost $250. The icing on the cake of that absurdity, which I have mentioned before in this thread, is that we then had to tip the bartender lady $50 for doing ****all for less than an hour. I am a notoriously good tipper, and like to think I understand the server world, but this is my breaking point.

Don't know how restaurants are going to survive(sadly, they won't), but I am done until after it all comes crashing down. Every time I leave a restaurant for the past few months I've felt like a Grade A sucker.

Two alcoholic beverages each?

We each had a $15 margarita for Jimmy, which was a lowball glass filled with ice and containing about 2 oz of liquid. One sip and it was half gone. I was so put off by that I didn't get another. Other 3 got another beer.

My main point is I have no problem paying for food and drink and never have. But I will not pay $300 for glorified pub grub anymore. Not sustainable.

Where was that?

Simple google result.

Would you have had enough to eat without the appetizers? If you skipped the alcohol and appetizers how much would it have been?

You gotta have the appetizers.

Appetizers are what you eat before you eat, to make you more hungry.

Should I be googling "The restaurant I ate dinner at tonight"?

Edit: oh, you're assuming I was asking you where you found that information. I was asking where the restaurant was and quoting your post because I thought you were correct.

Mark mentioned he ate at a restaurant. I asked where it was... for the specific purpose to find out how the divide tips. What am I missing.

Lol... I solve that problem by not going out to eat until I'm already hungry enough for the entree, and then I don't waste money on things the restaurant has marked up in price without adding any value to, like a bag of chips or a bottle of wine.
