Springs,

If you *******WANT******* to wait YOUR turn, why would you tip a waiter who cut to your BENEFIT?

It would seem that if you wanted to STOP waiters from ~~~STEALING~~~ time from ALL patrons rather than just from YOU, which would be ####MORALLY CONSISTENT####, you should have $T!FF3D that guy for cutting in your favor!

she agrees with you on a moral level but her love of globs of ranch dressing took over

Agreed. Whoever is behind the springs1 thing deserves some sort of internet content award for satire.

Where is the wasted time for table 2?

Next question - when does table 2's "turn" end? If they ask for more ranch dressing, is it still their turn? So should the server go back and get them ranch before bringing your food? What about if the server comes back with the ranch and now they want a refill? Still their turn?

Ok, now here is the tricky one - I guarantee you will say that if the server forgot something and had to go back and get it, they should be docked from table 2's tip AND from your tip, because they wasted your time, right? But HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THEY FORGOT SOMETHING OR IF THE CUSTOMER ASKED FOR IT RIGHT THEN FOR THE FIRST TIME? For this question we'll put them all the way on the other side of a loud restaurant so your snoopy-ass can't hear. Do you DOCK the TIP or NOT?

Ha! When I found that https://www.reddit.com/user/Springs1 had stopped posting a month ago, I was slightly surprised. Makes sense now. Also I guess -100 is the lowest possible reddit karma, huh?

What baffles me is that Springs1 doesn't seem to understand how Blogs work. She's making a new blog for each post instead of having one site.

She could probably get something going if she had one site and regularly posted this stuff onto it. Just going off on topics.

took a small catering order(140$) to a house. tip was 15$ already paid for. Woman at the house offered me another 10$ but did not know tip was on receipt already. i told her that tip was already on there and did not take the money. Should i have not said anything and take the extra money? Also i think i would of taken it if the tip was less than 5$ on the receipt

I know. And I said that you already asked and it's already been answered. See post 2509 and the ones following it.

different scenerio. that one included the same person giving a cash tip then writing in that cash tip on the credit because of his confusion.

This was a prepaid order in which tip was already written in by a different person. The person at the house did not know this and offered an additional 10$ tip on top of the 15$.

take ten bucks obv. it will balance out the times when whoever puts in an order forgets to tip and recipient is not aware of it/doesn't have cash on her etc

Touche. My bad.

Say something like, "Thanks very much! I appreciate it. Just to be clear, there was a tip added to the original order already, so I don't want to take this if you were unaware of that." My guess is you'll get to keep the $10 with a clear conscience probably half of the time.

I had something similar to this happen to me once.

We were at a hockey game in our company's box, and on my way there my boss called me and told me he wasn't going to make it and that i needed to pick up the bill. This was my first ever time in the box and we were all drinking a bunch.

Anyways, server hands me the bill, I pencil in 18% tip (max per company guideline) and think nothing of it. Didn't realize there was an 18% autograt on the bill. She says nothing.

I get home and see the mistake. I called there the next day and spoke to the manager, she reversed the additional tip, but I also asked that she speak with the server. This was clearly a case of someone being mistaken.

I tipped 18% on the bill total. I pointed out to her manager that I basically tipped 18% on the autograt.

YOU ARE DUMB NOT TO READ EVERY PRICE ON YOUR CHECK AND COMPARE IT TO THE MENU PRICES. YOU ARE DUMB TO BE THAT TRUSTING! My husband have had LOTS AND LOTS of overcharges during the years, even wrong checks given to us. You are CLEARLY a LAZY CUSTOMER so you DESERVED what you got for not checking your bill properly.

We have had LOTS of wrong prices, extra items we didn't order, wrongly rung up items like a salad without an entrée when I clearly ordered an entrée, etc. One was a waitress that admitted she rung up a $3.25 shot of Grand Mariner for the booth BEHIND us. It's easy to make a mistake and sometimes servers do it intentionally as well. You'd be surprised.

The server shouldn't say a thing, because legally they don't have to.

I do understand how they work. I am **ORGANIZED**. HOW is that horrible? Because it's not disorganized like the other people's blogs?? SERIOUSLY, you are whacked if you think someone wants to go through all the way to the bottom of a page to get to what they want to when they could just click the blog they want. My way is WAYYYY MORE ORGANIZED and MORE CONVENIENT. You know that's the truth.
