I only learnt that "Chinky" was a racist term about 3 years ago on a date with a Chinese girl....

My family would always refer to ordering fast food as ordering a chinky. I'm certain they don't realise it is a racist term either.

Never heard that with a Y on the end. Have heard it without the Y as a derogatory term for Chinese.

Edit to add: just looked it up, and apparently its a term for Chinese fast food in the UK. Never heard that when I lived there, but the I never ordered Chinese fast food there either. I was much more interested in foods we didn't have as fast foods in the US, such as curry, kebabs, and fish and chips.

Not many "fast food" places do. When I was growing up in Kentucky we had Long John Silver's and Captain D's, but I haven't seen either for years.

Comments on that article are won by the guy who says:

"Even as senior I find the idea repulsive, 20 year olds only for me…."

Most don't have British style fish and chips as a fast food. You can often find it in sit-down "pub style" restaurants. As fast food, fish and chips are available in specialty fish places (Capt D's, Skippers, Long John Silvers), but it's not much like the British style. More breaded (like fish sticks) than battered. I still eat it occasionally, but it's not very similar.

Are you thinking of Chintzy perhaps? Chintzy is a synonym for cheap.

Arguably if they don't know and aren't using it like that, it isn't racist when used by them.

Is chinese take out considered Chinese fast food? If not I don't think I've ever heard or encountered that kind of fast food. Take out doesn't seem to qualify.

Chinese fast food is any place that has the Chinese food already prepared, and sitting in the warmer trays waiting for customer's to point at what they want to order.
Usually they have a special or teo where you get rice and/or a noodle, and then pick 2-3 additional items for like $6-7.
There are a ****ton of these places in every major USA#1 metro area.

Unfortunately I can assure you many old guys still think they have a shot with hot 20 year olds. I had middle aged to elderly men try to hit on me in my teens. It's horrible tbh.

The Panda Express in my neck of the woods has a drive-thru. Not all do, but they're there.

Please, no need to be embarrassed.

Most food you buy from a bain marie isn't great. There are some exceptions like Indian food as curries hold up just fine.
