They'd be pronounced the same, and the former would make more sense, but I always heard it as the latter.
Ha, me too.

it's funny this comes up a lot where i often tell my parents about the insane stuff they did i thought was normal that everyone did but right now can barely think of any

1 tofu in spaghetti - actually quite good to the point where i've attempted to recreate myself and always fail

2 using a soup spoon as an anchor point to twirl your fork upon and wind spaghetti around it

3 never eating out - was viewed as something people the mega wealthy or people who are traveling would do - whenever a friend would mention they'd eat out because their parents liked to do that i'd just instantly think they were rich

4 having normal conversations with your family that aren't focused around them giving you life lessons or advice - normally having dinner with friends the parents make you the center of attention asking you questions or you and the friend eat alone doing your own thing so it really wasn't until visiting friends' homes in college did i realize how most of them had normal conversations with their parents just like with everyone else, took forever for me to realize i wasn't visiting the flanders but that was actually the norm and my family was the outlier

not a broken or unloving home by any means - just they were always on "parent mode" and still are to this day

5 calling them buhtato instead of potato and liberry instead of library - and no, it's not some regional thing - my aunt does it too so perhaps it is from where they grew up in boxford mass

Embarrassingly.... until I was about 20 I assumed dental floss was used by scraping it over the surface of you teeth, not to go between the gaps.

At least you usually do it in private! Didn't you go to the dentist as a kid

This doesn't entirely fit the thread.....but until recently (like last week) I though pimentos grew inside olives. I despise olives so I never eat them, so I never really knew that a pimento was just a cherry pepper.

I saw that Chick fil A has a sandwich with some kind of pimento spread and I was immediately repulsed.....who would want a spread with an ingredient that they picked out of an olive??????

So I google "pimento." Now I know.

I also believed this for way too long, but tbh it's one of those things I just never thought much about. If you had asked me I'd just say "yeah a pimiento is a part of a green olive", but then if you pressed me on like what it actually is, I'd probably have been like "wait a minute, it's not a stem, it's not a seed, wtf is it?" and realized I'm a moron.
