It's not really like it's embarassing where I'm from, but I've always wondered: in USA, when you make a joint, you don't roast the cigarette? I've never smoked a joint (I suppose it's actually a spliff) in Denmark where the cig wasn't roasted, and I've heard a number of reasons for this, and I never really seemed to be able to find a definite answer.

Sorry if this post is against the rules, please remove it if it is, I'm just curious

Spoiler:
and on coke cant sleep

Explain what you mean by "roasted" and the 'Mericans in this thread might be able to help you.

It means: warming up a cigarette with a lighter, so the nicotine, among other harmful things, will vaporize.

What you end up with, is a more "clean" tobacco.
Never seen that. Have seen spliffs with rolling tobacco which is similar I guess. Spliffs much less common here though.

I'm not a chemist, but if that were the case wouldn't smoking a cigarette vaporize the nicotine?

Edit: not butter on the bottom of the waffle, just as the bottom layer.

Assuming this isn't a tripod rhetorical joke, your tongue is supposed to rest against the roof of your mouth.

I've never been to France, but it sounds as if I need to make some reservations.

France is Bacon made me recall that for years as a kid when I heard the name Lew Alcindor I though his name was Lewal Sindor. Sindor sounded more like a last name than Alcindor, so I went with that, never questioning how stupid a first name Lewal must be.

There was a girl in my school called Jane Ives. For years I thought it was J Knives

Until a few years ago, for some reason, I thought the term 'old flame' just meant 'old friend' .

You can imagine the confusion when I once mentioned some dude who was an 'old flame' in a conversation. Then had to explain myself

(To clarify, im a straight guy)

When I was a kid growing up in the Washington DC area, I thought Mayor Marion Berry was him and his wife "Mary & Barry".

Most of my life I've eaten pretty standard sorts of things on pizza. Pepperonis, Canadian bacon, sausage...

It wasn't until only recently I found out that bacon is great on pizza.

Fantastic.

A friend of mine thought that the end of a Catholic mass was, "Thanks speedy God."

when i started watching a bit of baseball in about 2001 or 2002 i had very little idea what was going on, was struggling to remember whether balls or strikes came first in the count and what an RBI was etc, but one thing i knew for sure (from popular culture) was that 3 strikes = you're out

anyway the announcers spent quite a lot of time talking about how the potential of another strike would cause irreparable harm to the game and that all parties must do everything they can do avoid it. all the announcers and pundits seemed to be of one mind, that another strike would be a disaster. i thought wtf well who is pushing to make it 4 strikes = out if everyone is so sure it'll be a terrible change?

took probably 5 or so games before i figured out that they were talking about a player's union strike ala 1994

(players going on strike was a concept that was also completely foreign to me at the time which is possibly why it took so long for me to put 2+2 together. either that or i'm stupid)

they do but there's no salary cap, no maximum wage, every contract is 100% guaranteed money and there's no collective bargaining agreement. its a free markt unlike your stinking socialist sportsleagues

not much for players to strike about

there have been a couple instances of players on a particular team threatening to strike b/c they arent getting paid on time or w/e but afaik nothing on a league-wide scale

And you have the same three or four teams winning the leagues every year (with the rare exception). I can't think of anything more boring than a soccer season. I wonder who is going to win this year? ManU, ManCity, Arsenal, Chelsea? Maybe Spain is better - Real Madrid, Barca, Atletico Madrid? Maybe Germany has some suspense - Bayern or ... Bayern?

I don't see how increased parity would make soccer less boring
