So True. Except for Philips being best for drywall, Robertson is the best for everything else.
With Robertson screws you can put the screw on the head and get it up into tight spaces without having the screw fall off. Also, starting the screw with pressure works well because (like Philips) the pressure is inline with the shaft.
Slot or blade screws have zero stability when starting. Blade or slot screws are great for getting lost, getting stripped, or for enabling you to self-mutilate various parts of your fingers and hands with the screwdriver.
I have heard that Robertson screw heads are not used in the US because they were not invented in the US, but not sure if it is true. I do know that in Canadian households a set of the three main sizes of Robertson heads is pretty common to have around.
