I don't drive around town comparing prices but I'll absolutely inconvenience myself for another station within view. I don't do it so much to save 10-20 cents as I do to punish a gas station brazenly charging more than a competitor a block away. It's like they're saying, Yeah we're gonna charge more because we know you won't get in the left turn lane or drive 10 seconds out of your way. So yeah, I'll go out of my way to punish the stupidity of advertising a price higher than a competitor effectively right next door. Also, if I know that a certain gas station is way overcharging and there's another one nearby but slightly out of the way, I'll go out of my way. Yeah I get it, there's not another gas station within view, so you clearly must exploit this monopoly and charge fifteen cents more than the gas stations half a mile away.
My contribution: Gas prices advertised to the third decimal point. Hey *******s, don't charge fractions of a cent unless you can break a penny.
I buy a lot of gas.
