Not being argumentative. Genuinely curious. The small town I grew up in didn't have roundabouts. And the town I'm in now really only has small ones in subdivisions.

Right signal when exiting is the correct play with the roundabout.

Left blinker when approaching roundabout, switch to right blinker after you've passed the last exit you're not taking.

I can kinda see using a left blinker when pulling up to this one as it's barely big enough to be called a roundabout.

But a left blinker can't possibly be the right play here at all....can it?

Yes, although this roundabout is different from the ones I'm used to. Say you are coming from below (lets assume south), by putting on your left blinker you are giving information to people coming from the right that either want to enter the roundabout or just heading north that you're not going to be in their way.

Similarly you are signalling to people behind you in the roundabout that may want to exit east or north that you are not exiting so they should watch out or not worry about you, depending on which lane you are in.

Actually just saw the lane arrows which reduces the need for blinking left up front, but still...

You should only be in the inner lane if you are not exiting the next possible opportunity, but people are idiots so blinking is still correct.

Safety aspects

Research in 1969 by J. J. Leeming showed that countries driving on the left have a lower collision rate than countries driving on the right, although he acknowledged that the sample of left-hand rule countries he had to work with was small, and he was very careful not to claim that his results proved that the differences were due to the rule of the road.[33] It has been suggested that this is partly because humans are more commonly right-eye dominant than left-eye dominant.[34][35][36] In left-hand traffic, the predominantly better-performing right eye is used to monitor oncoming traffic and the driver's wing mirror (side mirror). In right-hand traffic, oncoming traffic and the driver's wing mirror are handled by the predominantly weaker left eye. In addition, it has been argued that left-sided driving is safer for elderly people given the likelihood of their having visual attention deficits on the left side and the need at intersections to watch out for vehicles approaching on the nearside lane.[37] Furthermore, in an RHD car with manual transmission, the driver has the right hand, which for most people is dominant, on the steering wheel at all times and uses the left hand (and left foot) to change gears and operate most other controls.

You said when there's a tie you just go first. So you don't know whether the other person knows the rule or not, you just go. If the other person knows and has the right of way and does go, you could cause a crash. You're an *******.

I said that most people don't know the rules so I just go (after stopping of course). This avoids a meaningless pause and we both continue quicker.

If the person does know the rule (1% of the time) then we both brake and there is no accident.

Overall, time is definitely saved this way.

It pisses me off whenever someone brings up a traffic related grievance ITT. I generally read every word of every post of the threads I read, but I skip over the driving/traffic posts.

Props on the sticker discussion. Tilts me beyond measure. Especially when I buy a bag of apples and they have stickers...goddamn you supermarket bastards! So unnecessary.

By the way, you can eat peanuts in the shell. It pretty much just dissolves in you mouth and is quite tasty. More fiber too.

Bah, it's all good though. I doubt if there were enough bacteria on the shell of a peanut to cause illness then the peanut inside would be safe. Anyway, I started when I bought a bag of Tabasco flavored peanuts at a ballgame and the peanuts themselves had no spice. All the hot sauce was on the shell so I popped a few in my mouth and they were excellent!

I gotta say I have done it and it's actually pretty good. I don't like to do it all the time because sometimes the shells can hurt upon exit.
