Man I love reading phb ,27, and tuma's posts in the morning. Always a good way to start off the day.

Years ago I was driving my cousins car, learning to drive stick on a main road and I didnt start off too well. About 5 minutes in he lost all patience with me and told me to pull over. So at the next red light I veer off a little to the right, but still am mainly in the road and he swings open his door, and much to our dismay we hear a guy yell frantically "no, no, no!!!!!!" and as soon as we look over he clips the side of the passenger door and flies head over heels. He comes at us with a fleury of expletives and we obviously apologise. Kinda indifferent on bikers to this day but I'd prefer their pedaling assess be on the sidewalk so the said old bags and females don't have to deviate and cause traffic.

I'll be damned if anything about bikers belongs in a thread called "things that shouldn't piss you off, but do"

What pisses me off but apparently shouldn't is people who leave their computer sound on at the office. Every time they get an email, everyone gets to hear the stupid outlook sound that is actually scientifically formulated to get your attention so how is that not distracting?

Yet when I go scream at people to turn their ****ing sound off, everyone else is all like "derp, I can't even hear it". **** you co-workers

We get a lot of the hard-core bikers around here that will ride on the road instead of the bike path. Their reason? Too many walkers/slower bikers on the path - it slows them down. Hello! You're on the road slowing down thousands of commuters trying to get home. And then once you pass the bikers on the road you'll come to a traffic signal and they'll pass you and a long line of other cars while it's red, run the light, and they you need to pass them all over again. And they'll be smugly thinking, "Ha, I'm not only more fit because I bike to work, I get there faster than those idiots in cars." Never realizing that they are one of the main reasons my commute is so slow.
This last part really does piss me the **** off. I have no problems with bikers in the road because a) I know that is where they are supposed to be, and b) I was one myself for a limited time before I decided I didn't want to die under the wheels of a car after falling off my road bike. However, if you are going to ride your bike in the road, follow the damn traffic laws. Stop at stop signs and red lights, etc.

Im always amazed how many people dont know that their car has mirrors that should be used.
I had just got my licences and was making a pass on a row of cars when another car at that row decided to also start to pass others in front of her/him. Thank god he/she showed the turn signal and my dad spotted it otherwise I would have crashed in about a 120km/h and at least 10 cars behind us would have all crashed as well - all because someone doesnt want to use mirrors. I was making the pass on a reverse lane so no I was not obligated (nor would it be safe) to let people change lanes in front of me.
And why would you learn to drive on a main road - I have always found a road where there is no traffic if I need/want to teach someone how to drive a stick-shift or found a empty parking lot to teach parking.

+1. Forget the "my time is valuable" thing - if you don't want the person you're calling to know it's you until they pick up, you're being a dick. What is the rationale there, anyway?

On the topic of caller ID, I get annoyed by people who answer with the innocent "hello?" when it's a good friend calling. You know it's me, why can't you say "Hey BTP" instead of making an extra step?

Not only do I not answer calls from restricted numbers, I let numbers I don't recognize go to voicemail most of the time.

There are only like 3 people's numbers I will pick up. My wife, my brother (the one that doesn't want me to invest in his failing business), and my best friend. Everyone else wants something out of me and can go to my voicemail, which I probably won't respond to.

Invention of the cell phone is something that pisses me off that shouldn't. As when you are in trouble (like car trouble) it's obv. good to have. But often the bad outweighs the good.

it's not hard to, you know, keep your eyes open while riding a bike, enabling you to see slow moving people in the distance. not to mention everyone is fat and barely anybody walks.

Stop the ghey bike debate.

Something that may qualify for this thread is commercials where local business owners parade their family around. Though this maybe should piss me off, but I don't think it should. But it does. I don't trust anyone who parades their family during a commercial.

There was a doctor a few years ago who had his 5 kids and stepford wife in his commercial and at the end his little baby says "Daddy's little girrrrl". Well, he beat the **** out of his wife a couple years ago (shocker - she probably spent too much of his money) and then you never saw that commercial anymore. Just saw a commercial for that company 5 minutes ago for the first time in a long time and it was just some unknown lady spokesman now. lol. Reminded me of how much I hate people who parade their family for their business.

I don't go on Facebook much, but what you wrote reminds me of those people who talk about how great his or her significant other is. "Best husband in the world!" "Going out with my beautiful wife! I'm so lucky!" etc. Constantly.

My theory is that the rate of divorce for these people is 5 to 10 times as high as people who don't do this all the time.

That's a strong theory. Backed up by seeing that stuff posted by relatives when you have inside information about their relationship being rocky.

I think you might be on to something with that theory. All the friends I have where the relationship is rocky tend to post huge declarations of love/affection and general attention seeking on FB for all to see. The ones I feel are in solid relationships don't do this.

So here is my beef: People that have personal discussions over FB for all to see. "Honey, would you pick up milk before you get home?" followed by "Sure, I'll also get you those extra large tampons since I know you're out" ending in the inevitable "Oh, I have such a considerate huband! I LOVE you!" and "NO, I love you MORE!!! You're the best!!!". These frackers are getting divorced within 6 months. I hope.

i don't like when bikes are on the sidewalk because of crosswalks. when i pull up to a stop sign i naturally assume that i only need to check the sidewalk for pedestrians, and since pedestrians walk slowly you're pretty much good to go unless someone is literally right there at the crosswalk. but then a biker comes at 15 MPH through the crosswalk right in front of me (of course they never stop) and I'm way less likely to see them coming.

that's my most hated biker maneuver, closely followed by when i'm stuck in a line of cars at a stop sign and bikers pass all the cars on the right and run the stop sign. there have been a few times where i was turning right (with signal on and everything) from a stop sign when suddenly a biker tries to pass me on the right and run the stop sign, resulting in me almost hitting him with my right turn.

of course those are probably things that should piss me off

Usually I just wait them out and make them answer their own stupid question.

Receipts for nominal value items. For example, I buy a can of drink for 70p and get given a receipt which is essentially a piece of rubbish that they expect me to get rid of.

When people jump into personality cliches when describing themselves. The one that annoys me the most is "I'm a very competitive person, I really hate to lose". The truth is that most people really aren't competitive at all.

Came back to the states thinking I was going to ride my bike everywhere after spending three months in Amsterdam. I was back driving my car within a month.

My old house was in an area that was popular for weekend bike riders and I frequently had to pass groups of them riding in the road. Annoyed me at first but I got used to it and it doesn't bother me now. A jogger made my blood pressure go through the roof the other day. I came up behind three joggers who were running right in the middle of the road. Two of them moved to the side when they heard my coming, but one kept right on jogging in the middle. No reason for her to do so because there was a parking lot on the right side of the road.

I have the same problem with people drinking out of my bottles/ glasses as the girl from Estonia. I would probably die of thirst if I were straded in a desert with a group of people and only one water bottle. Unless I was the one with the bottle, than everyone else is ****ed.

So much this. There is a local seafood restaurant I won't eat in because I hate the commercial featuring their daughter so much (also because I live nowhere near the sea).

Here is the commercial under "View Our Videos"

Is it possible for her to sound less interested? the guy constantly adding garnish is another reason I won't visit.
