I don't learn much. I think it's some combination of not concentrating on learning and focusing on not crashing into things while I'm looking back and forth between the road and my phone. Anyway, I'll go somewhere maybe 10 times in a year and the next time think I don't need the map. Inevitably I'll take a wrong turn, pull over and type it in.

Curious what your reasoning is.

All other alphabets except latin and the variations of it. They all seem so impractical compared to latin, like russian & mandarin... I secretly hope one day all are going to use latin and start driving on the right side of the road.

I believe in keeping my mind active. I take sense of direction as something most people lack because they don't let their brain form a memory for it , content to just type in an addy and let it guide them. Similar to most people my age remembering their childhood friends phone numbers , but having no clue of anyone's number of people they met five-ten years ago. Just plugging it into your phone's memory will leave you clueless on to what the actual number is. I have been driving around Las Vegas the past couple days and without looking at a map , my memory laid out a grid of all the east-west streets , Tropicana , flamingo , spring mountain. Etc etc. Even though I have not been driving through here for a while. I would like to believe that if I used GPS , it would not come as easily.

Was talking to my dad today and he dropped this - people who pull in front first to a parking spot in any situation, as opposed to backing in. We argued at length over which was the superior method (in fact, people who back in irritate me greatly).

Backing in is quicker and safer. The person taking forever to back in is taking just as long to back out but they're not putting pedestrians at risk.

The whole backing in thing tilts me unmercilessly. (Not a word). You have a tiny space to back into, and a very large one to back out of if you parked head in. I spend less time parking total than do my backing in brethren.

There was this segment my local news station used to do where they would take a minute to show driving tips that people tended to get wrong a lot.

One of their tips was to always back into a parking stall.

If u drive a truck, backing into a spot is the optimal choice AINEC

If u drive a small vehicle it's a wash

They are putting themselves at risk of having their tires slashed by me.

This! Also, people that use their GPS while driving often either drive like old people and going uber slow or maniacs and taking every last turn that gets yelled at them from the device. They also have a hard time obeying to traffic laws.

If I'm going to a place in an area of town I'm unfamiliar with i'll use it, won't use it for return visits. Why you wouldn't use it for the initial trip, I dont understand.
