I wear contacts 99% of the time. The other 1% when I wear glasses, every time I go somewhere dark my brain combines the glasses feel and darkness and assumes I need to take off my sunglasses. I reach up and derrrrrp regular glasses. Sometimes multiple times in a day.

I don't think stretching is their reason, it's more likely simply because they see everyone else standing. They also probably want to get off the plane like everyone else, and somehow in their minds this is the first step in that process.

This is similar to the cretins who insist on shuffling their wobbly asses down the aisle of a moving bus or train well in advance of their stop, just so they can stand unsteadily in front of the exit until the conveyance stops and the doors open.

This. Most of them do it for some delusional thought that they are going to exit the plane immediately upon docking.

People who somehow manage to gin up a false sense of intellectual superiority over people who are stretching their legs or tired of sitting. Do you really you're the only ones wise enough to understand that you can remain seated until you have to disembark? Have your lives really demonstrated that you're that much smarter than everyone else? I bet the answer, if you're completely honest with yourselves, is no.

This entire forum is built around people ginning up their own sense of intellectual superiority over the unwashed masses. Most of your posts, including the one above, have a certain smugness to them, so let's not pretend that you are immune to it.

Much as I hate to be another person bringing up the title of the thread, this is not the place for serious reflection on the ills of the world around us. It's for lighthearted and admittedly irrational venting.

I thought the over the top tone of my follow up post made it pretty clear that it wasn't meant to be taken entirely seriously, but thanks for being such a beacon of reason.

I have seen this "lol standing in airplanes, God people are stupid thing," many times before, and it pissed me off, so I thought it was perfect for this thread. Also, I would never pretend I don't gin up my own sense of superiority, although I try to do so in better ways than thinking I'm smarter than people in situations where I understand something you would have to be ******ed not to understand in the first place. Such as thinking everyone on a plane doesn't know you can remain seated.

Finally, I thought the tone of my post was clearly intended to be comically over the top, but yw anyway, I guess.

I agree, people who stand up early in the plane bother me every time. Something about the sudden suggestion of crowding and hurry agitates me. Much worse, however, is when somebody articulates the same unease; as I've mentioned before in these pages, nothing draws my ire more then someone getting visually upset at the same thing I am suffering in silence. Self righteous bastards.

Other then that I pretty much love everything and everyone. Especially YOU.
