I usually say, "Okay. You?"

Is that too much?

What if I do care?

And the cashier saying "Would you like to try our new...?" should piss you off and doesn't belong in this thread.

Let's just all agree that cashiers are horrifying human beings, who deserve nothing less then a slow, painful death.

I always say I'm good and ask them how they are doing.

Maybe people here are just nicer.....

I've answered yes to this twice in the hundreds of times I've got to the drive-thru. The 2nd of which was actually like two weeks ago. Went to JITB for a munchie meal and they started by offering that. I don't remember the first time, but I just remember not expecting it and it sounds really good after I said no.

"Hello, thank you for choosing _______ would you like to try our new _______ today?"
"No thank you..... Wait.... Yes!"

Me too. Didn't know about the app; now have it and am very happy with it.

Note that social fixer apparently just got hit by a FB dictate that the app couldn't block ads or tell people when they'd been unfriended, both of which it now (as of yesterday, at least) does. It's being rewritten with a "fix" expected in the next few days; I advise grabbing it asap and setting it not to auto-update.

Whenever they ask me how I'm doing, I always just say, "Better than you I would imagine, as I am not a completely expendable lump of minimum wage fodder, hahahahahaha," which usually seems to satisfactorily complete the conversation.

Actually I've noticed recently that my local cashiers are abnormally chatty.

This happens at least 50% of the time at Wegmans, which is relatively new to our area. I think it might just be company policy, they always have a ton of employees around and I think they go out of their way to seem very customer service oriented so the cashiers want to be friendly/engaging.

I have a theory that this has now blown back onto the other grocery store I frequent, though (Giant). I never noticed their cashiers being all that chatty until relatively recently. Now every time I go in there they want to know how I've been and why they haven't seen me recently (like WTF how do you remember the last time you saw me?).

I think Wegmans has cut a ton into Giant's profits and this has increased the creepy/desperate friendliness of the Giant employees. I think they think if they turn up the charm they'll draw more people back in but really all they make me do is feel mildly weirded out at check out.

In my experience, Trader Joe's has the nicest cashiers. Also the most stoned ones.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to explain too well. However it made me laugh and definitely deserves to be in this thread.

The golden ratio is 1.61803, while 1 mi is 1.60934 km. He's just saying it annoys him that those values aren't exactly the same, even though there's absolutely no reason for them to be. A worthy submission to this thread, IMO.

All this pink stuff everywhere!! It's really starting to get tilting. There are all sorts of horrible cancers/diseases but there's no month where everyone where's a color for lung cancer, stomach cancer, leukemia, etc.
It was OK when a couple players would have a little pink on their uni but now it's every player/coach/ref. The casino I go to every damn dealer, floorman, pitboss, cocktail waitress has a pink shirt, pink beasd necklaces, pink felt on the BJ tables. Enough already how bout doing this ONE WEEK!!

yeah, it's absurd. We're all aware of breast cancer at this point.

Lung cancer kills 2x as many women.

Colon cancer is more common and more deadly. I salute the NFL for having their Cleveland franchise promote colo-rectal cancer awareness 16 weeks a year.

"Awareness" campaigns are total bull****. It's just a way for people to feel like they're doing something morally righteous. Everyone is aware of breast cancer. This month accomplishes nothing. Instead of contributing money to research, people just wear pink to act as though they're helping the cause. Same **** with AIDS and people wearing ribbons or walking in a parade. It's a total farce and a misguided feel-good exercise for the participants.

Also, I was chatting with someone on Omegle (what a cesspool—I go on there when I want to practice typing really fast and insulting randoms) and he put a space before a question mark. He was from the USA and said he did it because he liked how it looked. MaybE I likE thE way capitalizing all my Es looks, so I'll just start doing that.

squeaky wheel gets the grease and since there's only so many research dollars to go around, a big awareness campaign goes far in getting a disproportionate amount of those dollars.
