Doesn't McIlroy sound more like Paul at 21 than a typical Liverpudlian today?

Rory sounds mainly American these days. He hardly has an Ulster accent apart from a few twangs. It would be almost impossible to non Brits to understand anything a Scouser says

When the first fall/winter day drops below 40 and you guys dress up with more winter gear than Hillary and Norgay had climbing Everest.

Fun fact, the official term for sticking a word in the middle of a compound word is tmesis. By far the most common use of it is cursing ("un-****ing-believable", "fan-****ing-tastic" etc.) but you also have the above, and phrases like "put that thing any-old-place".

As for regionality, I'm on the east coast and I've heard "a whole 'nother" for a long time.

I'm guessing if you surveyed 100 US born people, the o/u on McIlroy sounding American would be about 1.5.

I’m sure.

To clarify, he doesn’t ‘sound’ American but there are a few twangs and rolls on top of his existing accent where you can tell he’s spent a lot of time there. I have developed the same thing - Brit who has lived in Australia for 20+ years. I still sound British to the Aussies but I sound Australian to the Brits

That always makes me ponder "exactly how long has it been waiting!?!?"

plus there's always the chance that it's waiting there and given out to someone else by mistake.

When Kings dress in suits like King Abdullah II of Jordan.

He should take a lesson from King Charles.

Suits are for prime ministers and presidents. If you're a king, rock like one!

Pretzels (sticks and knots!) in my of course homemade (not by me) Chex mix. Love the addition of peanuts, cashews and Kix, though. Pretzels are cheap filler.

Haven't tried it, but the sweet/salty combo does appeal some. Would they survive the oven?

For a traditional pretzel recipe they also have to survive the boil before they even go into the oven.

As with other stuff that might get runny it's probably best to freeze the peanut butter before using it.

3+ years of hearing about Camp Lejeune class action ads, if you haven't caught wind by now just let it go that you have cancer and don't own a TV or have email.

I never heard a Camp Lejeune class action ad in St. Louis but have heard dozens here in Colorado since I moved in 2022. Mesothelioma ads have been going on for at least 15 years or longer and of course I had to quit bathing in Round Up a couple of years ago.
