Surely you would use literally in a sentence to highlight the fact that you are serious and understand (and MEAN) the words you are saying....?

If you are saying something that is clearly impossible, then it is just an extra word that is completely pointless... if you are saying something that sounds really unlikely, but you use the word 'literally', you are telling the person/s that you do in-fact mean it LITERALLY!

...or not... I literally couldn't give a sheet

FWIW I literally do not use the word literally unless I literally mean it. Literally.

I never go to Starbucks but it pisses me off that their smallest drink (I think) is called a tall.

But it's not on the menu, which is something that should piss everyone who goes to Starbucks. F*** companies hiding the cheap stuff, or pulling the "would you like a Medium or Large drink?" trick, when they clearly have a Small.

how is 'completely pointless' different than 'pointless'?

Omg yes. I used to regularly visit a deli on my lunch break, and for a good 3 years I always ordered the "Medium" since it was presented like the smallest option they had. Then one day I was like "um, small?" and they handed me this new mystical cup slightly less in volume than the medium I had ordered all these years. Thing is, this deli provides free refills, and even send a waitress to refill your cup for you while you eat, so you're still getting unlimited beverage as much as you like.

I about choked a bitch. Well not really, but I was passively offended in my own right.

Chain restaurants (excluding fast food places). Every time I come to oot and see that endless lobster thread bumped I get a little annoyed.

I'm probably still venturing into stuff that should piss you off territory, but a related scam is fancy restaurants with the "still or sparkling water?" question, when most people probably assume still = tap/free water. Not cool when they bring out the $5 bottle of water instead of free glass of tap.

Some people flying from Kansas City to one of the coasts may not understand this, but people living in big cities know what's up.

Would be suprised if more than 5% of people in any restaurant think they are getting free water when choosing the still option in that scenario.

Just ask for tap if you want free water.

Hidden tracks piss me off. Especially when it's not even its own track -- it's buried 32 minutes after the last track. At the very least give it its own track number so I can fast push the FF button instead of having to hold it till the hidden track comes up, then rewind when I actually get there. Ugh. Better yet, just make it its own track number in sequence. Very annoying.

I've seen this at #1 on SportsCenter's top and one countless news networks. How is this obviously fake video getting so much media attention?

Blinkers in general. Well, people that don't use them. Or don't use them properly.

The safety hazard IS the reason it pisses me off. My answer is a red blinker. I'm changing my answer.. People who don't understand posts and comment on them instead of answering the thread.
