You have clearly put as much thought into this chess show as you have real-life, actual torture, and how you would respond.

Just say it's a quarter of the price.

Wrong, it's not inevitable, humans are fallible. With your logic, why do players with a wide gap in rating even bother playing? Just assume the better rated player wins, the end. How do novice players accumulate points? Things change.

Like I said, fight to death, would you just throw in the towel even if you're getting a severe beatdown or fight till your last breath?

Ppl can make mistakes even if they are way ahead in pieces. It shouldn't be about giving face or assuming the opponent will checkmate for sure.
In a real fight to the death, giving up isn't an option. Imagine you're in an MMA fight....

These actually put me in a good mood.

You must not play chess. There comes a point where the loss is inevitable. I guess you can be stubborn and play it out, but good chess players simply resign. I could give you real world examples where even you could see the futility (and stupidity) of playing the last moves.

Wrong again, nothing is inevitable, maybe death and taxes.

I do play but I think you're just a victim of conformity, you see a custom and simply don't question it and happily go along w/o asking why. If you play you'd realize even GMs sometimes commit blunders. It's actually stupid to assume your opponent will mate you even though most of the time they will, we're just talking about fighting until the end, just play it out and see what happens, that's the whole pt of the game, stop making assumptions regardless of how bad it looks. This is even more ridiculous when you see someone resign just cuz they're only down a pawn.

I'd say chess is more like war and a real fight to the death, not a highly-regulated match like mma or boxing.

Ppl are just too touchy, 'oh noes! You have disrespected me and my famz! Why didn't you resign already, I'm up a pawn and it's midgame, can't you see I'm gonna mate in maybe 133 moves???!!'. LOL smh, get over yourself, nobody's questioning your 'honour' or skills but just play it out and do what you supposedly think one should assume. Another analogy Lebron goes up for a dunk, does he make it? Yeah most likely, but sometimes players, even great ones, miss. Just do the damn dunk before we give you the 2 pts, don't assume.

Those ppl, they simply do as they're told, w/o zee 'why'.

Yes, that would be ridiculous. But if you play the game, as you claim, you must have seen end games where the result is inevitable. You're just being purposely obtuse.

I've got a queen and two rooks. You're down to a king only. Go ahead and fight it out to the bitter if that satisfies you, but anyone with a brain would resign.
