She just passed 2 million miles on United, mostly international. The problem is that some countries have a stupid rule that you need a blank page before and after the page they stamp.

Yes, yes, and yes, at least when they were young. People that live with the accent tend to not hear it. This reminds me of when the movie Fargo came out. I grew up in Minnesota and was there through my mid 20s, but hadn't lived there for 20 years when the movie came out. Many people I knew from Minnesota were annoyed at what they perceived to be over-the-top accents that seemed to making fun of Minnesota. My response was - What the hell are you talking about? They nailed it.

This is the Canadian accent?

I've never met an American who said I had a Canadian accent, but I've met many Americans who've been surprised and said I don't have a Canadian accent, which was always lol and confusing. I don't find any recognizable difference in the way people from Vancouver/Portland/SanFrancisco/Calgary/ speak, unless they have an accent due to being Hispanic/Chinese/immigrant/etc

There's truth to what you say of course, like I notice specific eastern and southern accents, but Western cities it's all whatever to me, doesn't matter which side of the border.

Find a clip when he was at Santa Clara.

And yes, he still has a slight Canadian accent. Not quite the Great White North, but it's there.

This is the youngest interview I found.

I wouldn't expect a young white guy from LA to sound particularly different...

Here's Kevin Love, a white guy from LA for example. Not that different to me anyways.

Vs someone like Jason Williams, from West Virginia who is very different from them. Love and Williams are both Americans, but Love sounds alot more like Nash than like Williams.

Or Bryant Reeves from Oklahoma

Given these 4 guys, I think Love sounds much more like Nash than the other 2.

Here's Sidney Crosby, an Atlantic Canadian, who I assume is an example of the 'Canadian accent'

But then Patrick Sharp, who is from Vermont, sounds more like Crosby to me than he sounds like any of the Americans

I've spent some time on Baja on beaches that are pretty much all Canadian snowbirds - mostly from British Columbia but some of the other provinces. When they get around each other the "ehs" and "hoesse" (my attempt at spelling house but with a long O) and such seem to come out.

'eh' is very Canadian, yes. That's not an accent thing though, lol.

I'm actually just finding it interesting paying more attention to these accents. My opinion is that they are far more affected by region than by country. Love and Nash are from Pacific coast, Crosby and Sharp are from the Atlantic, Reeves, Williams etc are from different regions. Nash and Crosby don't sound anything alike. I tried to use all white athletes to keep the rest of the factors down..

Also, just noticed the Nash/Crosby name thing going on lol

So here's Neil Young, from Toronto

"Thank you for calling Frontier Communications, are you calling about account number XXXX?"

Me in a very clear, loud voice: YES

(long pause) "I'm sorry I seem to be having difficulty understanding your response. Let's move on."

Still on hold. Everything seemed so smooth but apparently "the system" wants to send a technician to retrieve my secondary cable box even though we all know that's not necessary. Sigh.

Ok she just finished it. That was relatively painless I guess - assuming it actually works. No more paying $30 extra a month for no reason. Woo hoo!

Time to get drunk. I've had a big day.

Cashier: That'll be $10.02
Me (giving him a $20): Sorry, I don't have any change.
Cashier counts out $9.98 in change.

Probably should piss me off, but how should my anger be apportioned?

A. At the cashier, for his complete lack of common sense.
B. At the business owner / manager, for not ensuring that his employees don't piss off customers for a lousy two cents.
C. At the U.S. Government, for not getting rid of the God damned penny.

The US still using pennies is lol. Even nickels and dimes are getting silly. Would it really change much if we just rounded everything to nearest quarter? Cranky olds would be cranky, but they're cranky anyways. I guess it would suck for homeless people because spare change would be less of a thing.

Anyways, for your question is answer B or C, definitely not A

D. Not using a credit card

It has been a few years since I carried any change in my pockets. You would be astonished at how liberating that is.

Spoiler:
**** coins! Coins are for numismatists--nothing else.

Using pennies helps us with our pronunciation.

Damn snowflakes can't even carry $10 worth of change in their pockets. When I was a kid pennies were real money and receiving change was never a problem.

So just a full 180, then? Someone sounds triggered.

Not triggered at all. Times change. Circumstances change. Values change.

Years ago, there were actually things that you could purchase for a penny. Not so much today, which is probably why minimalist didn't have two of the damn things in his pocket. There aren't that many things that can be bought for less than a dollar that have any value to me at all.

Dealing with coins is a ****ing nuisance. There are ways to minimize that or to eliminate it entirely. Try it; you'll like it.

Minimalist: Change is annoying.

Tom Ames: Well you should’ve just used a CC.

Me: Why are you blaming Minimalist?

Tom Ames: Anecdote about snowflakes and inflation.

Me: So what are you saying?

Tom Ames: Change is annoying.

Canadians insisting that they don't have Canadian accents is one of my favorite things on the internet.
