when people who obviously don't speak but are still acting in a language that you are fluent in

it literally makes me ears bleed whenever i hear actors speaking in Chinese, even the asian ones because they themselves often don't speak Chinese

Mr. Robot is painful viewing because it's heavy in Chinese dialogue but they speak at one tenth the speed and using incomprehensible pronunciation

imagine you're watching a movie and all the dialogue is "haiiii.... I's.... wan.... taz... foodz... for.... eeeee.... ting... to.... mar..... row... so... give... me... tai.... ke.... way... bahhhh... ggeeee"

it wouldn't matter so much when you're watching an movie and the white person has a token line of incomprehensible Chinese but when it's constantly present it's just unbearable

in the old days they used to just have them speak whatever language and pretend it was the one they were supposed to speak, i used to laugh at that stuff but after seeing Mr. Robot attempt it I'm very grateful to how shows like the west wing did it brilliantly having most of the Chinese diplomats speaking cantonese, korean, or whatever amongst each other because there it at least sounded like natural language - you say to yourself "hey those Chinese people aren't speaking Chinese" and then you move on
