The amount of chip credit/debit cards left behind in readers has to negate any security benefit they offer. Some machines make an obnoxious reminder to remove the card, some don't, which is bad for people making late night possibly inebriated trips to the store.

You think talking to a human cashier is better? These machines are proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

I am all for as little human interaction as possible when grocery shopping. Maybe there should be an added discount of DIY, since you're saving the corporation so many man hours.

Human cashiers in UK supermarkets are almost always silent unless spoken to.

Man, my co-worker is awful about this. He gets so irate, wanting to know "just WHO IS CALLING HIM!??" He buys into the no-call list crap and thinks that he is being specifically targeted for something. He is always creating this weird "logic" about the frequency and timing of the calls he receives. Thinks he is "owning" them by answering and telling them off.

I tell him every time that he's being an idiot. No one is actually calling you, dude. It's some ****ty Windows XP computer sitting in a closet running an autodialer.

I don't like that I can't answer my phone nowadays. If I were a real estate agent or repairman, I'd be going insane with all of the bull**** phone calls.

My local news had a bit recently about how you can make money off the robocalls/telemarketers. Apparently if you are able to connect them to calls to you and are able to document it they will just pay you cash to get you to go away rather than pay the fines for their illegal business practices.

I had to read it a few times before it made sense. I initially interpreted the connect in "connect the calls" as having to connect the line to something (like transferring a call) not making a logical connection.

How, exactly, does one go about accomplishing this? Specifically, what is meant by "connecting them to calls to you"? And how do you document it? And how do you get an entity in India to "just pay you cash"?

Sounds like a load of crap to me.

Ugh, it's a commercial for a company selling a $47 kit that teaches you how to get money back from scammers.

I think he means prove the calls came from them, and document everything but I'm still as interested as you in finding out more.

Had to send a Priority Mail thing.

Post Office self "service" kiosks that don't work at all on Sunday, when you don't have any other post office choices to even re-boot the POS kiosk much less actually provide any service.

This happened to me today! Pissed me off big time.

I went to four post offices. Two dead kiosks and two locked lobbies.

When you're typing something on your phone, and the word you want pops up in the predictive text box, but its the singular form rather than plural that you want (or present tense rather than past tense etc), but when you click the word and try to add an "s" or "ed" the phone automatically adds a ****ing space! So then you have to hit the delete key to delete the letter you kust typed and hit it AGAIN to delete that goddamn space
! Infuriating.

Similarly, when you long press a word to highlight it so that you can copy/paste or whatever, the phone automatically zooms in a ridiculously huge amount. So much, in fact, that often times whatever I just highlighted is no longer even on the screen!

Leaning towards these both should piss me off.
