He clearly has the right of way so there is no "challenge". He was planning to get to go first, because he DOES get to go first. Why aren't you waiting for him to finish his turn?
Do you think that whoever gets to their chosen lane first, is the winner, and therefore the driving rules must conform to that person?
Also, even if another car isn't there, you're still supposed to wait until the pedestrian is on the sidewalk before you attempt to go through the crosswalk.
