Shouldnt piss me off becasue **** them, I dont do that anyway.
I refuse to clean out the recyclables in the first place, and wouldn't even separate them if it wasn't for my wife constantly bitching about it. The way I look at it is, I pay for a service to have garbage collected, and top of that the garbage company makes additional profit off the recyclables, so why the hell am I doing the hardest part of the job for them? They can **** right off.
How do you pay for garbage collection?

For example our complex pays for two huge bins "general garbage" collected every four weeks. We pay nothing for four recycling bins. So it makes even financial sense to recycle here, because otherwise we would have to pay for biweekly collection or bigger "general garbage" bins.

And *thumbs* to your wife. If the earth won't end in some kind of environmental catastrophe then it will be only because of women. :P

Place I rented in Portland had 1 small garbage can collected every 4 weeks, larger recycling can collected every week.

Very annoying.

We have 3 bins. Regular, recycling and garden. Regular gets collected weekly and the other 2 fortnightly, basically each week one goes out. We never have much in our regular bin, probably due to composting. It's amazing how much waste you can compost and then have this beautiful stuff for your garden.

The biggest difference I found in the amount of trash I produced was how much prepared food I ate vs cooking or just making a sandwich.

We (our city) just started recycling a couple of years ago. I was completely shocked by how much recyclable stuff my wife and I generate every 2 weeks. So I'm glad we started, but I feel vaguely guilty about the 20 or so years before.....

People who arrive somewhere, park, and then just sit there idling for more than 5 seconds before getting out. Or people who get in their car, turn it in on, and then just sit their idling for more than 10 seconds before leaving.

When a new TV show has an advertisement in the week between episodes #1 and #2 saying to tune in for an "all new episode" Monday at 9 or whatever.

It better be new, FFS. Maybe should piss me off.

I also dislike it when people have oddly specific meaningful eyes and they put them on me.

It's way better. You have to go backwards at some point. Why wouldn't you do it into the empty parking space instead of out into traffic?

Having a longer vehicle I find makes this even more beneficial.

And by "we", I suppose I mean everyone except Villian
I currently live above a convenience store that sells food in a somewhat large city. People are constantly filling the two large trash cans outside my door with their trash/dog ****. There are no public trash cans in my neighborhood.

There is also an abundance of rats that are oftentimes referred to as "Baltimore Bunnies" that eat right through the lids to get to the food in the trash cans.

Our trash is picked up once a week. Putting a chicken carcass/fish or whatever is a recipe for disaster. In the freezer it goes. I don't want a smelly apartment and I certainly don't want to trip over rats walking up to my apartment. I move in two weeks where I hopefully won't be storing trash in my freezer.

My original post was referring more to situations like an empty toilet paper roll in the bathroom trash can instead of it being completely empty. That pisses me off.

Tie a bag of piss to the inside of the garbage lid to keep the convenience store people out of your trash.
Not sure about the rats, but I'd use rat poison to kill as many as possible until I figured out an actual rat deterrent.

The best rat deterrent I have come up with is not putting food out there. And lids on trash cans.

Baltimore City recently delivered a heavy duty trash can with a lid to every single residence in the entire city. It has noticeably cut down on the amount of rats I see. Possums are bad too.

Lol. My old neighbor used to put a lock on her trash can. She'd forget to take it off before trash day and it would sit forever. Terrible.

Pest control? I mean..... rats are bad. And it is a public problem.

I am now thinking about how comes that our complex doesn't have any. My parents have a compost pile in a corner of the backyard. My mom is absolutely paranoid that remnants of anything with meat/fish/cheese mustn't go there. They have got a rat once and it was somehow really difficult to get rid of this rat.

I like this little anecdote.

"Baltimore's rat problem is bad enough that at one point, rats tunneled so intensely beneath a particular area of pavement that when garbage collectors drove over it, their truck sunk up to its axles. Rats in the vicinity took full advantage of the mishap and swarmed the truck, gorging on the garbage inside."

To be fair, from what I'm seeing, Paris and London have similar issues.
