Did you mean to say "When I was a boy" or one of a thousand other better ways to say "When I was young?" Admit it, this awkward yet still insufferably pretentious phrasing is just so it could fit with the beat of the song.

Yeah but it sounds like some impossibly dense thing a Brit would say. Also their Middle Earth phase will always get a pass from me.

Brit band packing stadiums melting faces - singing about hobbits and ****, American Blues style - while the lead singer rocks a fine array of skimpy blouses. Doesn't get more rock n roll than that.

I do that as a 30yo. Entirely from my mom always calling it that. I'm trying to break the habit.

I also called clementines 'tangerines' well into my teens, and windshield fluid 'antifreeze', both because of my father.

The lyrics are ok really, especially when you take into account Plant being a teenager when he wrote them.

I suspect your anti Brit rock feelings are more connected to annoyance that a bunch of wimpy Limeys took your hallowed rock n roll and improved it for you. So yes, fits this thread perfectly.

Ok I take it back. Not an assumption so much as a misinterpretation of various derogatory though valid remarks about cock rock attire and song content in the early 70s. I mean, how dare you. Brit rock taught the world how to look androgynous. Don't knock it till you've tried it.

Anyway.. In the days of... seems ok to me. We don't say in days and nights gone by, or those were the days and nights.

Plant wrote some terrible sub hippy dip**** lyrics (Going to California) but I dont think that's anything like one of LZs worst.
