I prefer cooking my own. (This is big, as I don't cook anything else.) Microwaved is somehow dryer and less flavorful. Could be because of the oil or fresh butter? Anyway, nothing can really beat it...

Negs on reddit. It makes my blood boil when I have a difference of opinion with someone and they are clearly solely negging everything I type. I try hard to not bring myself down to their level and neg back, but it tilts me so hard even though I don't really give a **** about the karma of a post.

Failed concept, anyhow. How often are negs actually used for the intended purpose? I.E., when someone makes a post that doesn't contribute to the topic in anyway. Basically shouting, "Bababooey, Babbabooey!" Almost never. It's just a pretentious disagree button. There's a button to report spam, so it doesn't need to be around for that either. Some people say their usage is also meant for posts that they deem "low-content", but I don't agree with that either. Low content posts are what give online communities a community feel. I swear, some ****ing spergs want forums full of individuals shooting the **** to read like a wikipedia page.

Have you ever ended up with a bit of the kernel stuck between your teeth and no amount of flossing can get it out? That combined with the fact that often people will work it down instead of up and it then gets stuck in an almost impossible position to get out, often under the gum. My dentist said she is more restrictive with her kids with popcorn than she is with sweets.

It really turned me off popcorn and I love it. I didn't eat it for years and even now only have it very rarely.

Hmmm. Although I have experienced what you describe it didn’t warrant a trip to the dentist and I have never heard of anyone needing to go to the dentist for that issue, though that’s not scientific. I think I’m going to risk it.

Broken teeth was another thing. Still if you were to avoid everything that was potentially bad for you, no fun would be had.

Exactly. I already have a long list of things I’ll feel stupid for having avoided I’d we get nuked. I’m keeping popcorn.

I think the key reason it's thought of as dental health apocalypse is because people have terrible flossing habits and popcorn is one of those foods that will take forever to work itself out with brushing alone. I get lazy with flossing too, but I definitely get less lazy on days where I eat popcorn. Even if they don't come out immediately, I feel flossing jars kernels loose and they work themselves out pretty easy.

Swishing with salty water can help too. I'm no expert, just repeating what my dentist said. Agree that flossing laziness would be a factor.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to McDs but I stopped there today with the boy before school. My local McDs now has waitstaff. They want you to sit down after you order and they bring your food to you. They also have someone walking around offering to refill drinks and when your done they don’t want you to empty your tray. They tell you to leave it. C’mon man your ****ing McDs, don’t make it more then it is.

The worst thing about microwaved popcorn imo is that salt doesn't stick to it as if popped "normally." If you don't like salt on popcorn, then that is obviously a non-issue.

If a dentist tried to talk me out of eating popcorn, I would find a new dentist or ignore the advice. Not that it might not be correct ...
