The Facebook app and website is absolutely trash. It is amazing that one of the most successful companies on earth has such a unintuitive and uninspired ux. It is nearly impossible to search for anything successfully, it is difficult to read comments in context, it is easy to accidentally turn on the camera and not immediately clear how to get out of it, it is way harder than it should be to control notifications, and the design is ****ty looking. I mean they finally come up with new choices besides thumbs up and not only are they weak, they look like garbage. Even the stupid enhancements to allow the type of moron who likes to spruce up their idiotic posts with gradient color backgrounds and fonts look like they were ripped from three versions back of PowerPoint.

I guess it's like complaining about the quality and packaging of crack tho.

I assume a lot of that stuff has to do with making things that work across the wide range of platforms used by 2 billion people.

I think that camera thing is on purpose because they're trying to compete with snapchat. They want you to accidentally click it, and make it hard to get back.

On a similar note - this x on the twitter iPhone app is the hardest damn thing in the world to click. Minimum 5x before I hit it right. And the fun thing is if you miss it just disappears until you touch the image again.

It's can be hard to figure out the dividing line. Too close and you're shutting it in their face. Too far and it's uncomfortable

Obviously the correct answer when you are the door opener. When I'm the trailing person, I'll often slow down a step or two and avert eye contact so the person will be compelled to just exit normally.

The hot dog thing is to keep prices the same. Companies do this all the time, instead of raising prices they reduce amount. Haagen daaz does this, reduced ice cream to less than a pint to stay at same price point as Ben hand Jerry's
