I don't know that it's on 2+2 very much, but I definitely see it a lot (and the variant "in your eyes") on reddit, the stupider end of my facebook friends list and news article comment sections (although, if you read news article comments, you pretty much get what you ask for).

(I know that isn't what ime stands for)

I was not pissed off about the golf thing. Then I saw that video.

I truly respect people that have devoted so much of the energy and talent into practicing a single skill.... but how in the F did he think of starting to begin to practice that shot?

Ya think you might get a bit of the shaft when you try and make a claim?
Um, like, no. We have GEICO. My wife's been in a couple of fender-benders, everything was handled smoothly and efficiently, and both times they were able to get the other guy's insurance to pay back our deductible (they were at fault both times). And we pay less than we did with any of our previous carriers (although here in NJ, the insurance fraud capital of the world, it's still probably more than 3x what it would be in most other states).

Well, the other guys typically run titanic ad campaigns too. lol America afaik.

I wonder how many dollars/what percent of your typical insurance premium goes to their advertising budget? THOSE FAT CAT ****ERS.

What does it matter how much of "your money" goes to their ad campaign? It works right? Like, their ad is making money for them, not losing it. You might as well wonder how much of your premium goes to pay the janitor who cleans up the office building.

People who bash religious people. I myself am agnostic and don't give a sht about what other people believe but it tilts me hard when atheists go out of there way to belittle and mock other peoples values

Clean office building essential, mammoth advertising campaigns theoretically inessential. Insurance a unique industry for obvious reasons. Don't overthink my critique tho.

If GEICO spent almost $1 billion on janitors in 2011 - representing 6.5% of premiums - I'd be wondering about that as well. Apparently insurance industry average is 2.4% of premiums go to advertising.

Notice how the article (not the headline) correctly says "represents" 6.5% of premiums. That's correct because insurance companies generally pay out more in claims than they get in premiums. They make their money from investing.

Also, Geico doesn't pay agent commissions.

This all ignores the fact that the ads must work. Do you think they spend a ton on ads just to be fun and look cool???

It's possible. The staple volatility of the advertising market is due in large part to the fact that it is difficult to gauge ad effectiveness when variables are constantly changing. Therefore, it often becomes a game of "we have to do it because the other guys are."

I assume he means where the door opens in

Of course, then the thing one should piss you off is having a stall door unexpectedly whack you in the face when you're walking through the room, which is why the doors do that.
