I used to play lunchtime poker with a group of older guys at work for $1/hand, mostly 5card draw type games.

One of the older guys was adamant that a royal flush was only in hearts, because that's what showed on the hand ranking card that came with the deck.

I asked him "does that mean the only 4 of a kind is 8s?". He didn't get it.

In our old home game (so all kinds of manic games), we had a rule that five-of-a-kind beat a straight flush, except if it was a Royal.

Complained about it every time we played one of those games and re-clarified the rule.

Of course, it never turned out to be a problem.

They're professional golfers. A high percentage of their drives SHOULD be perfect.
Not like the ball is even moving or anything when they swing

Agreed. I think I posted this ITT a couple years ago. If I had it my way this would be posted every couple months in here.

Costco should get you raging. They have giant carts and narrow aisles choked off by strategically placed demonstrators. Combine those with self absorbed idiots blocking the aisle and/or letting their kids block what's left of the aisle, and I'm ready to start building a body count by the time i get out of there.

Which is why I finally stopped going there.

That I made it over 4 decades without knowing that there is such thing as a blue ringed octopus, or any venomous octopi at all, but now I see different references to them seemingly every week.

People who are snobby about calling it The Open.

Lol @The Open.

It's the British Open, and just be happy we let you have one gimmicky-ass snaggle tournament. Ooh neat let's watch them play golf in perpetually silly weather. What's next? The Buffalo Open in February?

There's something about having to pay to go shop somewhere, really irks me. Wrong thread though.

It really isn't. Find me anyone outside the US that calls it that.

Calling it "The Open" is entirely stupid and purposely obfuscating.

There is the U.S. Open, and there is the British Open.

And, people in the U.S. should get to decide since they control the sport of professional golf. All the other majors are there, along with just about every single other top level event. What is the main trait that differentiates this tournament from all the others? Obviously the Britishness.

Sorry we jacked your sport and it feels like

Spieth incredible finish in The Open - PTI leads with... LeBron of course.

**** off ESPN. From their coverage - you'd think baseball was in off-season and NBA was nearing playoffs.

I can't help it, I like Wilbon and Kornheiser. They're like old friends at this point. But this new NBA year-round coverage push is driving me nuts.

I consider myself a big NBA fan, but my fandom is definitely at a personal 21st century low. The playoffs sucked so ****ing hard, and then they're shoving **** in our ass nonstop. I absolutely hate hearing about Carmelo Anthony all the time like he's even relevant at this point.

And then whatever the **** The Basketball Tournament is. ****ty teams with stupid names playing in tiny gyms? Yeah cool! Last game I happened to notice was Ram Nation vs. NC Prodigal Sons. GFY

On the Friday PTI they dedicated the entire first segment - with a guest journalist - to some Kyrie Irvin / LeBron drama. I've never seen them do that for anything.

I would bet any amount of money this is about the layoffs and trying to throw a hail mary (I couldn't bring myself to say full court press) to save one of ESPN's key properties. I think it's beyond clear to everyone at ESPN that if they don't want to be in the next round of layoffs -
they better get fully on board.

When has attempting to manufacture demand like that ever worked in the entertainment world?
