I think that was one of the steps in the spiral waterfall workflow at EDS back in the 90's!

I have a local automated carwash near me that I use once in a while. You drive in and just sit there type. Once wash is over the dryer fans start and a digital display timer starts counting down from 60 seconds. The person in front of me will absolutely use every second of that 60 seconds by inching their car through until the timer hits 00.

Get the **** out of the car wash!! It is AIR that is blowing on your car drying it off. Nothing magic. Just drive away and let nature do the job.

That's how you get water spots. There's a reason why people who really want their car to look nice don't air dry their cars. All water has some minerals and stuff in it that concentrates if you let the water evaporate naturally.

Btw - relevant to the discussion about watered down iced coffee several pages back - I did go back and make some tweaks to my method. The idea is to overwhelm the coffee with so much ice and a cold cup - that most of the heat transference comes from the ice warming up (from ~0 in the freezer to 32F) vs. melting. I call it "shock and awe".

#1 - leave cold mug in refrigerator overnight

#2 - fill with one tray of ice and pour coffee

#3 - garnish to taste

You realize you could just get a cheap French press and leave it out overnight with the grounds and cold water steeping and make better coffee with less effort right?

Sounds complicated. I'd have to google things.

Pisses me off that someone would put a mug in the refrigerator in an attempt to get it as cold as possible.
Wtf? You have ice, so I know you have a freezer. Why don't you put the mug in there?

Making iced coffee is not that complicated ffs

Dude, I hope you don't think that the whole ice cube first goes from 0 to 32, and then begins to melt. Ice is a pretty good thermal insulator, and when confronted with hot coffee, I'm sure that most of the cube is melted before the center of it rises even a few degrees.

No I don't think the whole cube gets to 32. But the cubes are still mostly intact when I drink it and it doesn't taste watered down. If I go for a second pour over the same cubes it tastes very watered down.

For the love of God, it's not clever or relevant. I get the feeling most people who do this don't even know the origin and think "gate" somehow just means scandal.

The origin of this is actually the Trojan War, otherwise then known as horsegate.

I go camping and fishing a couple times per year up in the mountains in the east slope of the Sierras (in the Bridgeport CA area for those who are familiar). Tucked away well off the main highway are some pretty nice hot springs. You have to take a nasty dirt road for several miles and then hike a good distance over steep terrain to get to them. Pretty rugged and remote.
And every single time Im there, I run into vacationing euros, way out there in the middle of ****ing nowhere.
Euros. Everywhere! Like they own the damn mountain.
Pisses me off!
It shouldn't, because they are almost always really nice and and have interesting stories to tell, and the women are all about getting naked. Which is great.

But WTF, dont they have mountains in euroland? I hear there are a few decent ones. And aren't there hot springs there? Why travel thousands of miles and spend all that money on a vacation to see something you have in your own backyard? Should this piss me off?

Grunching the coffee thing, but when I'd do work at Starbucks I'd always get those huge Caramel Iced Coffees that are like $3.15 for 32 oz. They give you free refills so when I'd leave, I'd get a free refill to go. I'd dump the ice out, pour the coffee into my ice tray, and toss them in a mug to leave on my desk in my room for the morning. It helped because I''d wake up, slam the cup of coffee, and wouldn't sleep way the **** in since it'd hit me and I'd wake up.

Anyway, I thought of 2 good ones for this thread (3 if one of you list my stupid scenario above):

1) I have a buddy (let's call him Mike because that's his name) who loves Rockstars. He'll grab one a day for work. Whenever we've gone to the store and he's gotten one for work the next day (or whatever), he'd only get 1, even though every single time there's a deal. It's ALWAYS like 1 for $2.75 or 2 for $3 type deal and he's always buy one. It's his money, but it would drive me nuts. Like bro, you're buying another tomorrow. Save the trip and buy 2! He didn't have a reason not to either.

2) Whenever I go with people to ****ty Chinese buffets and they try and fill a plate with some cheap, bland bull**** like chow mein or rice. It infuriates me, especially if it's with a female friend and I'm paying. It's like, dude, we have excellent sushi, sometimes crab, and tons of **** you don't see everywhere else. And you're carbo-loading on some ****ty old chow mein? It's their food, eat how you want, but man it ****ing annoys me!

You're brewing the coffee anyway in the morning, correct? The only difference is the ratio and you don't have to heat the water. It's way less complicated that your current method and yields a better finished product, lol. Keep cooling that mug and using a whole tray of ice to make crappy watery iced coffee slightly less watery though, not complicated.

tell mike he can get rockstars at target for a buck each every six weeks or so. I buy every single one that I can reach on the shelf so hopefully he goes to a different target than me
