I have three airline credit cards which give me free checked bags pretty much anywhere I want to go. I really hate dealing with a big bag on the airplane and plane changes.

I have baggage loss insurance through my cc so it is positive ev to give them a chance to delay or lose my bag. Gotta check it to win.

I'm not disagreeing with you on what's the obvious best approach for everyone - that doesn't impact them negatively at all.

I'm just saying that in the context of a bunch of idiots at the airport posted up along the start of the conveyer and boxing out everyone else, the guy in pole position will end up gaining some advantage.

Wasn't saying it's not stupid. In the rare occasion I check a bag, I just hang back until I see mine come out and then forearm shiver kerowo out of the way and grab my bag.

I just saw a dude with a regular dude haircut, common dude untrimmed short beard, wearing mostly drab, regular dude style clothin grey Columbia jacket, olive thermal, baggy outdated jeans and bright fluorescent orange air maxes. I don't know his shoe selection pisses me off but it does.

Here in Ireland, maybe it's because there are very few buildings > 10 stories here, so going the wrong way will only add a min or two in the worst case.
