The discussion of large carts reminds me of childhood trips to the commissary (I was a Navy brat) with my mother for grocery shopping. She would fill 5 shopping carts (they only had one size back in the stone age): 40 half gallons of milk and 20 loaves of bread on every trip.
Why did I go? Because I got to fill a cart with cereal...of my choice. Next to Saturday morning cartoons, it was one of the great joys of childhood.

(btw, I love the small carts...a great innovation we couldn't even dream of back then)
