As of the time I am posting this, 4 out of 12 Thai boys have already been rescued from the cave. There are 8 kids left plus adults.

This story has captured the attention of the whole world. Here's to hoping that everybody comes out alive and healthy.

4 more coming up. Looks like the rescuers moved very quickly up the learning curve of how to do it. Looks like a slam dunk. Good game, rescuers. Almost no possibility of a disaster, which is a very very good thing. No sweating required.

So all the kids are alive and was it 1 diver that died? I've gotten info 2nd hand so it may be wrong about the diver.

Yeah one of the divers died. Can someone explain how they got themselves so far into the cave? Some parts of the cave is only 15 inches wide seems ridiculously stupid to want to be there?

Someone on Twitter said something to the effect of the coach being a complete idiot for getting his boys into that situation, but then the fact that he was able to keep them alive for 9 days before rescuers found them is quite remarkable. He apparently was teaching the boys how to meditate and keep them calm throughout.

As for how they got that deep, I'm not sure but the flooding may have begun after they entered the cave and they could've been forced deeper into the cave to get away from it. Anyone who's been to SE Asia will know how ridiculous flooding can be during monsoon season. It can go from sunny to pouring buckets of water in an instant.

He might well - he kept them alive until rescue came, was last out and it was being reported that he refused all food and was in poor condition so that his students could eat what little was available.

They went into the cave, the rain started, they got stuck, were forced to retreat deeper into the cave where it wasn't flooded.

apparently they were going to celebrate two of the kids birthdays down there. There is an area in the cave known as Pattaya Beach, where there is sand.

Apparently they were so far into it and then the cave started flooding because monsoon season is what I heard or just lots of rain, I'm not clear on that. They had to just keep on going deeper to stay out of the water. From what I remember it was impossible to get out of the entrance as everything turned to mud and lots of water was coming in so their only option was to stay put or go deeper.

On another forum I'm on a poster said he's been in caves of that area and it's a huge tourist attraction so it seems pretty common and this was a freak occurrence by what I assume is flash flooding.

Thats awesome of the parents. Yeah it was a stupid mistake but he was only 25, nearly a kid himself. I'm sure he'll be living with horrible shame and guilt for the rest of his life, no reason to beat him down any further. After he got them in that position he was pretty much a hero.

A little but let's not laugh too hard. Egomaniac or not, he was trying to help.

Look at the range of things that could have happened - if they had lost a diver or a kid from the first group of 4 (a distinct possibility), the operation would probably have been halted and Musk's submarine might have come in handy.

A submarine is an interesting idea. Musk is awesome.

Anyone know how the water gets into the cave - from the front entrance somehow and down the path the hikers went, or did it come in through crevices/cracks in the top of the cave?

What a monster for engineering and flying a mini-submarine to the scene.
