Most of these songs were popular at one point, so it's not super embarassing to admit that it's catchy or that you like it.

For truly WTFawful, let me present my contribution to the thread: "Good Time" by Paris Hilton. What, you say? You didn't realize Paris Hilton recorded at least one album? Well then truly you have not plumbed the true depth of the musical cesspool.

1. It's objectively terrible music. There are parts that aren't even in rhythm, as if they ran through it once and then either ran out of studio time or didn't realize it was off, so didn't fix it.

2. It tries to slip in a few clever lines, such as, "Paris, do you speak French?" whose subtly is immediately undermined by the declaration that "all she knows is suck, ****."

And yet I listen to it.

When this song was hot two years ago and was on the radio literally every time we got in the car, the kids (5 and 2) and I would have a propper top-of-the-voice sing along without exception. No shame at all, especially since the wife was over it after once. Then one day I figured out it was literally about getting ****ed until you can walk straight. After that, I changed the station instead.

The video is artistic.

Here is a song that I really, really hate but will sing every time it comes on and get ear wormed for at least a few days.

If I remember correctly Third Eye Blind was more of a classic sellout like Maroon 5, Green Day, or Goo Goo Dolls. Live wasn’t quite as hard or punky as those others were. They simply just hit it big with Lightning Crashes which was the only “soft” song of the 5 that charged off that album. It didn’t feel like they went and said let’s go make an album with 3-4 “radio friendly” numbers and try to hit it big and they didn’t follow it up by going that way either on their ensuing albums. That is usually the classic sellout move. Radiohead and Live kept doing their thing after Creep and Lightning Crashes. They could have just went top 40 mainstream if they wanted to.

Is Sia's Cheap Thrills a terrible song? I was staying in a hotel that had some kind of conference and a DJ there kept playing the hook over and over and over again causing me to hate it. Then I woke up the next morning and couldn't get it out of my head and now I kinda like it.

Jesus, chop, how is this a question? Cheap Thrills is great and not remotely embarrassing. Just not as good as Chandelier.

spidercrab - my first exposure to it was the aforementioned hook-on-infinite-repeat which caused me to quickly hate it, so my judgment was pretty skewed. Have not heard Chandelier, will go to that next. Just looked at Sia's wiki page and wow is she talented.

There are 4 categories of song/video combinations:

Category A: No redeeming value. Terrible Songs with terrible videos. I'm sure there are lots of them, but they generally wouldn't rise to anyone's awareness.

Category B: Great songs with terrible videos. You can find a lot of examples. Journey's Separate Ways is one. Billy Squier's Rock Me Tonite is often listed as an example, but I don't think the song is that good.

Category C: Terrible songs with great videos. Until today, I could only think of one:

but now btc has provided another. Good lord.

[Category D is uninteresting, but includes things like Don Henley's Boys of Summer and Whitesnake's Here I Go Again.]

Three Little Pigs by Green Jelly

About a month ago, You Tube recommended this video to me. I had completely forgotten about.

However, it's possible this song is actually awesome.
