The recent Zombie discussion got me thinking a bit. I know a few songs that are just flat out godawful, but I can't turn them off when I hear them. Hopefully I'm not the only one!
At the risk of serious regret, here are the first two that come to mind for me:
Never really listened to all the words (I assume they're stupid) so it took me forever to find when I looked this up on YouTube for this thread, but something about the tune sucks me in every time
First time I heard this one was on one of my kids cartoons of all places. No idea why, but it stuck in my head. Even though its annoying as ****, I always listen to it all the way to the end when I hear it.
I have Stockholm Syndrome with this song, being the youngest of three with only one record player and a handful of 45s. Also, I have a friend who hates this song so much, he has borderline violent reactions at its playing (so naturally we post links to videos on his FB page from time to time).
Why would you ever like something you find really terrible?
For me it is somehow that there are different parts of me to which music can really appeal. A dancing part, or cool lyrics, or really good music, or some memories. I think with basically any songs here, they do in some ways connect to your brain, but not in all ways.
And there is no way in which Terry Jacks or McCain are connecting to my brain. And here is something truly embarrassing for me, but it has a lot of memories. A russian boy group from 89.
