I'm a 23 year

old studying in an technical college.I

have been playing poker for around a year now. Like any poker player I had consistent losses initially but over the past few months I've been winning quite good ( good enough that it is in par with the annual income of many of my high gpa batch mates) in

online tournaments

with huge prize amounts which made me quite recognized among my friends and peers. I was really happy and excited to tell others about my winnings in the beginning. I told them my earnings because it could prove people that my hard work in mastering the skill game of poker is paying off. Since I'm in college we would see each other regularly.Soon it became an habit for people to ask

if I had won any prize recently all the time they see me. LITERALLY all the time they see me. I soon understood the sole purpose

of their interest in my achievements was to determine my financial earnings alone and not of any value as my skill or hard work is concerned.Every single time they see me they wanted to update or 'account' my bank balance. That's it.So these days when people ask me about my

winnings, I do not feel like disclosing anything because it doesn't hold its value anymore to them as it does for me. Frankly speaking these days I HATE and feel frustrated badly when people ask me about my earnings every time they see me. But at the same time I do not feel like keeping my winnings a secret because why should I? Like any field of skill like chess, sports or business I have improved on the game of poker with hard work and commitment overcoming failures and struggles like in any other field. Even though financial free

dom is the also an important aspect of the game , now i'm mainly valuing on the quality of the game, in the complexities in the technical and mental

game it demands. In my country, poker as a game of skill is not well known to many, many just know its a form of gambling. So in my starting period my colleagues had constantly humiliated me on not being able to come on profit after about playing just for a few months. So proving those haters my skill and perseverance like for any poker player, was an another factor that lead to question myself about my unwillingness to open up about my winnings. So as per your suggestion how can poker players who are students like me whose profession is not poker tell others about their winnings in terms of value and not money. Because I don't want people to keep account of my bank balance. Whenever I tell them about my earnings in the tournaments, thats what

happens.

They literally asks me "So you have approximately X amount total as your profit right?". So If they enquire about the same the next time, Should I reveal my position in the tournament alone if at all I feel there's no need to hide the truths and tell them without hesitation I wouldn't disclose my earnings? After all I've said do you think there's no suggestions necessary from your part as these 'things'

need to

be handled by

myself?

So you bragged about how much you won, and now you're annoyed that people are interested in how much you're winning, and you want to find a way to brag about how good you are without having to tell them how much you've won?

lol not that this post warrants serious advice but I've found that talking about your finances with other people is almost always a bad idea.

The worst thing about bragging about your winnings with people outside of poker is that they consider it to be similar to winning lotto/bingo and that it should be shared around. There is no real plus side in talking about your winnings tbh.

The best way to handle this is to give extremely long and detailed answers so they never ask again.

Give it a few months. I suspect the problem will resolve itself naturally, if you know what I mean.

if every time someone saw me and they asked me for an update or audit of my bank account balance I would simply tell them it's none of their business.

Yet I was the one contained.

Perhaps I should
have indented
more
when
discussing ESAs and then I wouldn’t
have been contained.

The
more
you
know.
