Why are people drinking strong stouts and stuff during the superbowl?

When you're watching football and pounding beer and food, its one of the few times where something like bud/coors/miller is the right choice.

Ingredients
3 russet potatoes, scrubbed
4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 clove garlic, minced
3/4 cup Cheddar
1/2 cup barbecue sauce, warm
1/2 pound pulled pork
Sour cream, for topping
2 tablespoons snipped chives, for garnish
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Bake potatoes on middle rack until fork tender, about 1 hour. Remove from oven and let sit until cool enough to handle.

Bake 4 strips of bacon on a small sheet pan in the oven for 15 minutes. Crumble bacon when it's cooled.

Preheat grill to medium heat.

Cut potatoes in half, lengthwise, and spoon out the flesh, leaving a half inch shell.

Melt the butter in saucepan and add minced garlic. Brush potatoes with the butter and garlic mixture. Flip over and butter the bottoms.

Place potatoes on grill and cook until crisp, about 4 to 4 1/2 minutes on each side and remove from grill.

Divide the cheese, barbecue sauce and pulled pork among the potatoes. Top potato skins with sour cream, crumbled bacon and chives for garnish.
I will be making these as well, but I'm smoking the potatoes instead of roasting them. At least give the annoying Neely's credit for their recipe though!

Other menu items besides the potato skins:
Baby back and spare ribs -- it's finally time to decide which I prefer.
Guacamole w/ homemade tortilla chips
Bacon-wrapped jalapeno-stuffed bratwursts with kraut and caramelized onions
Smoked sour mix to mix with the liquor of your choice (bourbon for me) and beer

The quality of little smokies makes them something I am generally unwilling to eat.

I'll probably make these chipotle wings:

Not sure what else. Maybe quesadillas and guacamole?

I'm not sure where to find it around here, but Abita Turbo Dog would be my beer of choice from NO.

And for oven baking wings, baking powder seems to be the secret ingredient:

It's gonna be a cajun rubbed beef tenderloin with bourbon glaze, bro. Chicken wings are confirmed. Also homemade salsa, also confirmed. Other than that, the only thing we need is more coors light. And wine. And ridiculous gambling on about everything. Book it! Mmmmmmmmmm lumpia!

Grape jelly, sausage and mustard? No thanks, I'll just have another beer.
Cocktail wieners in grape jelly sauce is the nuts when it comes to casual appetizers. I think my grandmother has made those at virtually every family party I've ever been to, although I think she mixes it with chili sauce and tosses some pineapples in. So good.

A nice stick of crispy bacon stuck in a bloody mary sounds pretty good right about now.

Yeah I was thinking this too. Assuming I manage to stay up for it (UK here), I'll be on the lager.

ugh our menu looks super weak this year. The host is from New Orleans so he is doing crawfish and dixie beer, but the rest of the people are bringing super lame stuff like:

Kyoko- Pralines and appetizer.
Michelle- salad and mashed potatos.
Mike- fresh rye bread and rolls.
In addiion, we are having: little smokies in barbeque sauce, Jim Beam glazed ham, Kev's famous beans, spinach-rice and cheese squares, and pineapple slices.

ughhhh. I think I am going to make bacon wrapped shrimp but I feel like everyone will eat those right away since everything else kinda blows. Kinda considering pulled pork though.

So I can clear out an entire shelf in my fridge to coat and air-dry wings for 24 hours... or I can spend 10-15 minutes frying them? Ok.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, nice link, but... the effort: payout ratio seems way off when his starting goal was basically, "How can I make a non-fried fried chicken wing?" Just fry it!

EDIT: ****ing smilies

Good point. Nonetheless, not deep frying is an advantage, and I've got a second fridge. Wings have been airdrying overnight.

To be clear - the advantage is that I don't have to deal with the frying process and cleanup. I otherwise would have baked or broiled the wings.
