On the menu tonight: homemade fried chicken tenders w/jalapeño cream sauce, and some pretty run of the mill nachos with refried beans, cheese and pico de gallo.

Made a little batch of sloppy joes, so would have something tasty to eat while watching Lady Gaga's national anthem possibly last longer than 2:20 Nothing too fancy, but it was good (already ate some of it )

Hope everybody's food is turning out yummy!

Used the Serious Eats recipe for the patty of the homemade Chick-fil-A sandwich: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2...es-recipe.html

Was actually the first thing I've ever deep-fried at home; turned out great!

I took buffalo chicken dip and it was a big hit. Very tasty and super easy.

Will make again.

I don't think I've had a sloppy joe since I was 8 in the school cafeteria. Adults eat them?

Am not the greatest cook, so just make whatever's fast and tasty - am sure whatever you made for the Superbowl was much fancier

What did you make? Any pics?

PS. Bovada's apparently saying Lady Gaga's national anthem was only 2:09 Glad I only bet on the football game - only lost one bet instead of two

I wasn't taking a shot. I went over to a friend's place and they had wings and crab-stuffed mushrooms. Nothing fancy.

That sounds like fun - snacks and games are fun, especially when there's beer

Alright folks,

Here's this year's operation.

During an episode of Parks and Rec, when Ron Swanson mentions turkey leg wrapped in bacon, I thought about how that formed kind of a football shape, and then the idea of recreating the Vince Lombardi Trophy:

In meat form - bacon wrapped fowl above a hamburger plinth - came to me. The name, only a few weeks ago. As I'm not a graphic designer or a marketer, just a man who loves animal carcass.

So, after discussion with Mrs Harris it was agreed that cooking time and structural integrity meant that a lifesize Mince Lombardi Trophy was probably out, safer to do a few scale versions. That also ruled out turkey leg so the raw materials ended up chicken thighs, bacon, mince:

Simple 7-rasher weave to start:

2 thighs go into the centre:

And wrap.

Here the footballs are, all lined up:

Now the plinth. I went mince with egg, pepper, onion and chimichurri mix for a very slightly hint-of-spice hamburger:

1lb of mince in each of those, about.

Assemble into 'Mince Lombardi Trophy':

And get ready for cooking:

45-50mins at 180 degrees C, and a little shrinkage, comes out like this:

Served them with cherry bourbon bbq sauce, they went down well. Also featured a pizza made with a 100% beef mince base, a meatzza, which was AMAZING:

And the beer cheese pretzels made a comeback. New entrants included a cream cheese-cheddar bacon wrapped jalapeno popper, plus bacon-egg cups (bacon cup, bread base, crack an egg in and bake). All enjoyable but the bacon-egg cups felt too breakfasty, considering we were of course eating all this at midnight UK time.

Best,
Pete

It's genuinely good. Whilst most of my meatstrosities are totally contrived, the pizza works with a mince base in a way that you'd never think. It's kind of cheese burgery, but still pizza-y. I could genuinely see myself eating meatzza all the time instead of the bread type pizza.

Best,
Pete
