Don't be afraid to do what YOU want to do even if it means doing it alone. Especially when it comes to traveling. Want to go backpacking for a month in Europe? Go do it. Want to drive across the US just to see what it's like, go for it. You won't regret it.

This is not true in countries with a real food culture (which is a lot of them) or places like the South or Louisiana Creole cooking.

But yeah in the midwest my Grandma was a terrible cook, which she passed down to my mom. I'm hard pressed to think of any friend's houses growing up which had amazing food. My Aunt is a great cook. But she's a pastry chef by trade so that might not count.

My Korean friend might have had amazing food, but his house smelled weird and I was scared of it. So mad it took me like 25 years to discover amazing Korean BBQ.

Midwest grandmas can cook some good midwestern and in my area typically German/Norwegian food. They fail horribly at everything else.

I'm not sure if it's just me being in the midwest and liking to cook that makes it seem so bad but at least the grandmas here can cook some decent ****. The **** most middle-aged people here make as food is just horrible.

I assumed he was starting the jet there to make sure he eventually landed on target, not because it needs cleaning.

The strange part of his step process to me would be 10 seconds on the balloon knot. That is a LONG time.
