Take what you need for the pizza? Seems pretty obvious to me. But I wasn't raised by wolves, so go figure.

At a small poker room in the local bowling alley, a local loser finally went on a huge rush and had piles of chips in front of him. His daughter came into the room and asked if she could have a few bucks to go see a movie. He told her "no" in such an assholish way, others at the table gave her the money to go see the movie and buy refreshments.

friend takes his girlfriend to the chinesse buffet with me and 2 others, saying he will pay for her. before we walk into the place he tells her to just agree with him. he then proceeds to argue to the manager that she's just there to hangout and not to eat and therefore we'd only be paying for 4 people and not the 5 we brought. after 5 minutes, the manager finally let it go, and during the whole time there he kept getting up and getting things she wanted on his plate and she was taking those foods off and eating it when none of the employees were looking; same with his drink.

i was shocked, confused, and kind of horrified by the whole thing. i felt bad for his girlfriend for him putting her in that situation- doubt the $11 saved was worth it- and they also looked like complete hoodrats

Haha wow. This is another one where I can't even begin to fathom what's going on in his head.

Doesn't mean it isn't stingy. I think it works better in this thread.

Yet the guy who posted the story claims he didn't mean to take what you need for the pizza. I too am puzzled at how one can say "take what you need" as a joke and am curious to to know what the other $4 was spent on, in more detail than "something else".

A former boss of mine, who was the owner of the company I worked for, was the ultimate cheapskate, the kind of guy who always uses the "take a penny, leave a penny" cup even when he has change. We used to go up to the market (seafood) once a week or so . Now this guy was pulling in at least $250k/yr late '80s dollars. When we would get to the gate they charged $2 per vehicle to get in. He would always say he forgot his wallet so I would pay. He would then also hit me up for coffe/danish at the roach coach while we were there. To top it all off he would refuse to reimburse me from the registersince 'it was just a couple of dollars". Cheap bastard.

I used to be in construction as a carpenter. Years ago, I was building a commercial business and it had a specific deadline to be finished, past which the company I worked for would be fined for every day it was late.

The day of the deadline came and it wasn't quite finished, so I let everyone go and I finished it alone, as it happened to also be the night of our company Christmas party. On his way to the party, the company owner stopped in to thank me, and to tell me "There will be something extra on your Christmas bonus for doing this.". I worked all night, and we turned the site over to the owners on time and penalty free.

Sweet. Not only did this confirm that I'd be getting a bonus, but it should be somewhat decent. On the last payday before Christmas, we were all called in to the main office to pick up our paychecks and bonuses. After we had collected our pay, we were all seated in the boardroom when the owner passed out our bonuses.

Each of us was handed a tin full of gourmet coffee, and nothing else. The owner then said "Merry Christmas." and promptly left.

I never worked another minute for that company.

Not so much stingy as dumb and slightly related.

My sister's boss

1- told everybody they'd be getting bonuses
2- then butnahhhed them all
3- then publicly gave bonuses to a smaller, select group of employees

Did your cousin-in-law then kidnap him on Christmas Eve in a Winnebago?

Overheard this at work today:

I work for a property management company. The Northeast is expecting a snowstorm starting tonight. The bigwigs made the following "request": non-essential workers at the apartment complexes should leave 2 hours early today. Then they will work 2 hours extra tomorrow, so that they will save 2 hours of OT per person. Oh, and said bosses are the owners of an NFL team.

Me too, but then I stop and remember that this behavior ****s the cheapskate more than anyone else. They usually get what's coming to them.

There's a fine line between being stingy and running a business well, and I think they're on the latter side... that's assuming you guys are fairly caught up with work.

How much they have is irrelevant as long as they're making a good business decision and treating people fairly. Otherwise you go down a short-bus slippery slope. "Well, Gates has a billion dollars but he only pays my janitor ass 20k a year! He could spare 10k extra!!!"

I don't think this is treating workers fairly. The laborers have to work far harder on snow says than days w/good weather. To make them leave early one day--with minimal notice--in order to make them work longer on a more challenging day is not right.
