Couldn't believe my ears when told this, obviously enough we don't hang out with this guy any more.
That's standard for some guys here where i live.
You loan money to one friend and later he comes and tells you that you can get other half from x guy bcz they were together etc.
bs,that's why i don't loan money to not so good friends

it amazes me that grown ass adults can think like that. the last time someone told me "x owes me $ so just get it from him" was in the 5th grade.

This reminds when i joined a group of my local swimbath where you could win 10x10$ worth of entry fees for it.

the place is in bavaria so obv. 99% of the lottery joiner were bavarians also.
after the drawing 10 out 10 winners were bavarians.
the comments afterwards were more ridicolous than everything ive seen or heard @ bbv or in a casino

"rigged" "wow, ****in cheated drawing, only bavarians can win" "awful ****. dont let people from other parts of germany join the drawing when you give the prizes only to bavarian people" and so on.

and that werent 12 year old busto railtards, but grown out 40years women and men.
so freaking sick, because of a 10$ entry for a 500 km away swimbath lottery drawing.

swimbath, lol.

I'm from Hanover and we had a huge outcry for essentially the same thing at the local swimming pool.

People do this because they can't get the $ from the guy who owes them so they just tell a new person "get it from Tom, he owes me $700"

"Tom who?"

"Tom Douglas"

"Is that that 6'7" guy?"

"Yeah"

"Who just got released from prison?"

"Yeah he's cool - he'll hit you up. He's owed me for 4 years so he's definitely due to pay it. Think he just needed some time."

some friends I had in university used to do something they called "bar surfing". It would basically entail looking on the floor right next to crowded bars for coins people had dropped and were too drunk to notice or couldn't be bothered to pick up

I used to do this when I was really drunk in my student days, except it would be for unattended pints and pitchers.

I was hanging out a friends' house up at school. Four of us decide to get pizza, each of us was going to throw in $5. I was in the middle of an intense game of FIFA and couldn't count the money out so I just hand my friend who was going to get the pizza a $20-30 wad of money out of my pocket and jokingly tell him, "take whatever you need" (emphasis on jokingly). He ends up taking $9. When I asked him why he took more than $5 he said he needed money for something else. I was never paid back. Being out $4 doesn't bother me that much. I was just pissed that he somehow thought he had free license to "borrow" money from me in that situation. Needless to say, I won't be doing anything like that ever again.

I think I recently had an exception to this, I know these two guys that were roommates and one owed me 100 and I owed the other 100 on bets that occured at the same time. I knew they were both at their house watching that said game together. So I just texted the guy I won 100 off and told him to give it to the guy I lost 100 to. Should I have driven 50 miles, to take 100 from the dude on the left side of the couch and give it to the guy on the right side of the couch? I hope I can still keep my "grown ass adult" card.

that is clearly a different situation as you were telling the guy that owed you money to pay somebody, instead of telling the guy you owed money to to go collect it from somebody else.

How can "take what you need" possibly apply to anything other than the pizza?

the point is why would you ever hand money to someone and say take what you need if you dont actually mean it. if i give friends of mine a 20 to go get pizza/beer/chinese takeout or whatever and say take what you need it means "take my share out of that, but if you need more for whatever reason go ahead and take it because its 20 dollars and we are friends and friends > 20$" not "lol take what you need....as if i would EVER give you an extra 4 or 5 bucks for something, its so obvious i am joking because everyone knows i dont just give hands out of a couple bucks"

im trying really hard to imagine the tone of voice of someone saying take what you need jokingly

This one time I saw the AD of a prestigious university wait 6 weeks to fire a coach so he could save $1.5M, but due to his stinginess, they were left scrambling for a coach right around signing day.

What?

If you give a guy a $20 for $5 worth of pizza and he proceeds to take extra money for something completely unrelated to said pizza out of that $20 he is a weirdo.

Nevermind any nonsense about "the value of friendship" or what his tone of voice was when he handed him the money, you're just confusing the issue. Pocketing extra money for some undisclosed personal expense from a friend who is chipping in for his share of a pizza is just bizarre, end of story.

its definitely more douchey to say take what you need and then get upset about someone taking an extra couple of bucks, what the **** else did you mean by take what you need

so if i were collecting money for pizza, you handed me a pile of cash and said "take what you need" you'd have no problem with me removing $5 for pizza and $11 so I could buy some smokes on the way home?
