Never heard of this. You mean to tell me I'm supposed to give the guy selling me a $6 soda more money?

Apparently I'm a stingy dick because I think it's a bad idea to run the air conditioner all day in a house when no one is home for a dog AND leave the bathroom window open so the cat can look outside.

Do you think he gets that $6?

It saves such a small amount of money simply because of how material there is in the building that will have to be cooled off again too. Plus who wants to walk into their house after a day outside only to discover you have half an hour till it's cool

Just let the air un, it's likecly a wash on if it saves power or not, and for the love of god run them at a reasonable temp.

FWIW, I see a difference between being frugal and stingy. Making personal sacrifices to save a few dollars for you and your family adds up over time.

Nickle and diming with friends and family, is just gross though. (I'm the guy that picks the biggest pizza slices. LOL)

Complete and total fallacy. You will save significant energy turning AC off or setting the thermostat high.

Spoiler:
If you don't believe me, you're wrong, go google it.

No, I don't. The idea of tipping a vendor at a ballpark is completely foreign to me, I just kind of threw in the fact that the merchandise is so obscenely overpriced as a cherry on top.

Tipping a guy selling drinks or Cracker Jacks at a ballgame seems very strange to me, am I wrong about this? Can't you purchase anything from anyone without them expecting a tip anymore?

I've been to my share of games, mostly baseball and football, and I don't think I've ever seen a vendor get tipped. Not like its easy to notice when someone else does it, but I've never even heard of it happening, and I was social (not iCarly social) with a guy that was a vendor at the local AAA team.

Hippies and rich kids are the worst. With the combo of hippy-rich kid being the turbo-worst.

I am a vendor at a ballpark, and its depressing to hear that most people don't believe we should be tipped. Like another poster said, do you think we set the prices on that 6 dollar beer? If you don't wish to tip, why don't you go buy it up at the concession stand? Most vendors rely on their tips in the same way that waiters and bartenders do.

No but i think hes being paid to work. I mean if somethings 4.50 ill just give a 5 and be good, but im not tipping an extra buck on top for a 5 dollar beer and have never seen anyone that does.

I don't mean to imply that no one tips at the game, when in fact many people do. But to hear that we are less deserving than waiters or bartenders is tilting.

Would you tip a bartender? If yes, then what's the difference?

Serious question, what percentage of people in the stadium tip you?

This is something I never gave much thought to but have never heard of anyone doing.

I've been to many baseball games in my life and just assumed no one tipped vendors.

It varies from night to night. Obviously beer tips are better and more frequent than other products. I would say with beer it's in the 60-80 percent range. It also depends on whether they're winning, what kind of crowd it is, and who the other team is.

Wow, vendors arent paid anywhere to my knowledge and I'm shocked you guys think they are. I would never think of not tipping them. I know both the Georgia Dome and the Superdome have volunteers sign up to be vendors there. They get tips only.

I did it a few times in HS for Falcons games just so I could get in the stadium for free. My sister and some of her roommates have done this at Saints games for a few years now too.

In fact, I feel (and perhaps I'm biased) that we are more deserving of tips than a bartender. First, you have the option to bypass us and obtain the product in a place where a tip is never expected. Second, bartenders don't have to walk multiple miles and carry cases of beer up stairs.

I was about to edit my post to say this.

I can kind of see there being a discrepancy between beer and all other products. There is no logical reason to tip a bartender for opening a bottle of beer for you but not tip a guy walking around a stadium with beers.

That said, I still don't think its common practice to tip stadium vendors, even for beer, but I'm going to start asking my friends their thoughts on this topic as well as paying attention next time I'm at a game.

I'm open to the fact that I may be wrong here, and may even change my behavior based on what I find.

What does what your friends think and what other people do have to do with it?
