The problem with this is how do you do this without looking like an undiplomatic douchebag?

Nobody wants to have to pull the "remember how much I've spent on you" card, but yeah this situation certainly warrants it.

Maybe there's no diplomatic way about it, you just have to come out and be sarcastic and say "oh never mind then, I'll just never buy beer, pizza or hot chocolate for you or our team members anymore".

Then maybe he'll be like "Heh... yeah man don't worry about it I gotcha..."

It's an awkward situation and unfortunately 1 of you is going to be left feeling silly. I just don't understand how the guy doesn't

1) just say "I got it" before leaving or...if not...
2) just not mention the dollar when he gets back.

I mean, it's amazing and sad that we share the planet with these clueless ****s

If its a fairly long, return journey and I'm going with a friend I will either pay for half the cost of a full tank of gas (even if its a little more than i should pay - after all im glad to be the passenger, not the driver), or if there's 3 or 4 then we'll divide it evenly, including the driver!! Its only fair, plus the extra weight in the car means its costs more in gas!

My friend (the girl i'd go on most roadtrips with) would never ask me, but she wouldnt have to, im usually the one to pipe up and say right, €10 each from everyone....

How is it passive aggro? I didnt call or txt or email stating u cant come back! I only point it out because it was awkward. There was no discussion, "see u next ufc!" i would be stupid to invite them again.

You are deliberately not going to invite them to future events but not telling them why. That's passive-aggressive. Why not just tell them "Hey guys I don't mind having you over for UFC fights but if you seriously aren't going to pay for food you eat it's not happening for you again."

If it wasn't some guy who she knew was a millionaire, would she have cried over the tip?
this reminds me of the 'I won the lottery thread' where people were whining cuz the OP didn't want to give his money away.

actually after the game i invited my whole team to go out drinking on me, then said except for the cheap basterd
before he left i made sure to give him his dollar

im one of 4 guys on my team who make good money (3 or 4 dont have 2 nickels to rub together)
this guy actually is one of the other 3
the other 2 have had no prblem chipping in at times (on their own) and or bringing drinks etc
he never has

i have to lay out about 5 grand for the league months before the season starts-everybody knows this
most teams are wishy washy about payment- we all know our team will always have a spot because of my prompt payment
Every year i collect money from everyone for the season (about 350 dollars)
Almost everyone pays me within a week
The only ones who dont are the 3 or 4 who are truly broke (i paid a guys fee once, these guys will usually give me money thruout the season which is understandable) and the cheap guy who makes 150k a year and will give me the run around for months before paying
That may bother me more than it should but
1)I hate owing people money myself
2) there is tons of paperwork i need to collect each year- i truly hate doing this
when i collect the paperwork i also collect the money
it keeps things simple
I figure if i can lay out 5k the least people can do who have money is pay me 350 bucks when handing in paperwork and not make me hunt them down all season
He is no longer on the team

Where can you get gatorade for $1?

edit: you guys are ridiculous with the tipping. Calling 12% super stingy is pretty lol. I guess Canada is different though.

I used to sell beer at MLB games... after a while I would just ignore the black customers because they would never ever tip me and I made all my money off tips... does this make me a scumbag or am I justified here?

Complete scumbag. Baseball is a coward's game -- any reasonable person would sell beer at a football or hockey game instead.

My dad is seriously stingy. Nothing crazy really but for a CPA he really undervalues his time. He spends ridiculous amounts of time on do-it yourself projects when he really should just pay an expert to do the job.

I am actually surprised we made it this far in the thread before this type of talk emerged.

I don't know him, but I would assume he enjoys doing the projects.

In fairness of the dogpilers on the lotto guy, people were complaining that he didn't give $$ to his family. If I won or made tons of $$, there's no way I'm leaving my family out to dry. Just not happening. That's what family is for. Every one of them would be living as comfortably as I was.

I agree with you, but you have to remember that not everyone is as close with their family as you and I, and not everyone had a happy home life/childhood.

She's entitled to some of his money because she waited on him. But again, did I say he needed to pay "more" than an average person? No, he needs to pay a normal amount, 15-20%. But paying less is worse for Tiger because he is widely known as one of the richest athletes on the globe, and tipping 11% makes him look like a giant ****ing douchebag.

****, enough stories about a particular athlete being a stingy ****** get out, I'd have to think it would affect their marketability and thus their ability to earn even more money as an endorser.
