Meh I was 21 at the time and making way more money than I could spend. I would not make the same decision today. I was just using that as an example of how I'm not stingy/ cheap.

Fwiw I justified it at the time because I was playing primarily at the Venetian and my hourly was so high I justified the extra expense to be negated by less travel time and more sleep.

Probably wasn't correct, but **** it. The room was paid for after the first hour of so of poker.

Also 12/1 is less than 10/1 and there's no way around paying for a hotel room. Not paying stadium prices for drinks is easily avoidable if you're not a pussy

ah, cool, didn't know you were making $10k/hour, that's pretty badass.

Also, pretty hilarious that you are using something as an example of how your personality is today while admitting that you wouldn't do the same thing today. So maybe you were using it as an example of how you WEREN'T stingy/cheap?

10000/60 = $167. Although your point remains. $167/ hr is pretty bad ass. Wish I still made that kind of money

IRAZE is obviously stingy, and his denials make him slightly delusional.

Over the course of his two months at the Venetian he stole 87 towels because only a rube would pay for towels

I'm sure there's a way to advocate IRAZE's point - correctly or not - without coming off like a jackass, but this sentence particularly assured that he won't be doing it.

We have family friends who shop at Goodwill. The eldest son has asked mom to stop getting his clothes from GW (he's 10).

That's not that bad, but mom is a lawyer and dad is a doctor.

Verdict: Stingy

nothing wrong with goodwill, lots of high quality used clothes.

Its all mental from spoiled brats who think just cuz parents rich they deserve overpriced designer clothes.

THink about this
What if you are rich and own lots of high quality hand me downs.
YOu give them to less rich friends instead of send to goodwill,
Are those kids still gonna be like ,, NO want that sheet?

Also what if Goodwill was named something like
Recycled Premium Digs
would it still be unacceptable or stingy.

Much of the "good" Goodwill clothing isn't that cheap.

e.g. $20 for used jeans

There's nothing wrong with second hand clothing. Possibly they buy from there due to environmental principles but even if they just did it to save money I still don't consider it stingy. People on high incomes can overextend themselves the same as anyone. I have a friend who doesn't believe she should have to have a household budget because her husband makes a good income and yet they're always strapped for cash. I'm like "Johnny Depp went broke. Of course you need a budget."

I disagree. Full fledged doctors and lawyers shoould never be shopping at Goodwill. That clothes is for people with less means/income.

Idk what it's like in the US but here in Australia OP shops are flooded with goods that they are trying to turn over as quickly as possible so I don't think it really matters who buys it. Then the money is used to help whichever charity runs the shop. If someone in need goes to these places generally they are given a voucher which they use to buy whatever they need. Lack of goods is not really an issue here at all and we don't even have the tax deductions for donating goods like you do in the US.

I would be very surprised if the operators of such shops felt the same way.

I think IRAZE said you need to PM him for coaching. He wouldn't want a security guard to know his secrets or else he'll be paying regular price like the rest of you cowards. (Or was it pussies? I forget.)
