Haha that's amazing. They missed out on a trick though. Pro move would have been to all sit on separate tables, and all claim it was their birthday.

Hand a multi millionaire a receipt for $18.32 and he hands me a twenty and asks for change.

Same person offers a bottle of water that has been refilled with tap.

One of Bill Gates neighbors has five slivers of soap stuck together in the bathroom

Err, where? A restaurant?

I like the thought of a cashier at a supermarket just taking a $20 bill in this spot and not making any move to make change on it.

One of the conditions of the diner is that you can only use one coupon per table. This couple took their 19 year old daughter to this diner for her birthday, and had her use the birthday coupon for her meal. They actually sat at a separate, but nearby table, so they could use their restaurant.com coupon as well. They are far from broke, and it seems pretty awful to me that they had their kid eat alone on her birthday so they could save a little cash.
hahahaha that's hilarious.

I have one more, it happened today. I don't know if it qualifies as stingy or if the guy was just full out crazy. I went shopping for a few things on my lunch break, and I was in a rush because I didn't want to get back late. A guy in front of me is trying to buy a cake, and I hear him arguing because he is presenting a coupon so the cake should be $7.99. The coupon states you have to spend $25 to get that price, otherwise it is $13.99.

The arguing goes on for a bit, and the guy asks for a manager. It took a couple of minutes for one to come over, but he backs the cashier and says it clearly states you have to spend $25, I am sorry, nothing I can do. The guy is getting angrier and angrier, calling them deceptive cheaters and other stuff and the cashier who looks about 16 is looking very nervous. The guy is getting so angry spit is flying out of his mouth as he speaks.

I didn't want to agitate him but I really needed to get back to work. I said to him, hey, I have more than $25, why don't you give me the coupon and $8 and I will pay for it. The cashier gets ridiculously happy about this solution. So the guy does it, I have the cashier ring up the cake and hand it to him. He stops and glares at me. WTF? I thought I helped him.

Where is my penny? Uh oh. I only had a debit card, no cash at all. Panic ensued because he went back into rage mode. I offered to have them remove the cake from my bill and give him back his $8, and he is not okay with it. At that point the cashier grabbed a penny out of the register, handed it to me (I think he was afraid to hand it to the guy) and I gave it to the psycho. That must have been some damn good cake.

I recently discovered that my mum always carries a single thread on dental floss around in her purse. Like, not the usual box or w/e it's called, but always the same piece that she uses over and over driving from/to work. I had to immidiately think of this thread

My MIL re-uses her dental floss until it breaks.

I'm sure I've mentioned her in this thread previously, but don't think I've mentioned:

She leaves buckets etc out to catch rainwater to use to water her grass when necessary. She lives in an area with abundant rainfall, is elderly with a bad back, has over two acres of "lawn", her area has no water shortage, and her monthly water bill is $12.50.

Combination hoarding/stingy: when light bulbs and batteries need to be replaced, she places the dead ones back in the package with new ones, and puts them away. She seems to believe they still have some life left in them and will be ok after a little rest. My wife started throwing them away, but MIL would later go through the trash to retrieve them and store as above. My wife now brings such disposables to our house to throw away when she changes them for MIL as she finds it infuriating when she replaces a dead battery or blown light bulb with a previously replaced dud.

Should have given him his $8 back and walked out with the discount cake.

Would have been kind of funny if I did take his cake and go on and on about what a great deal it was and how delicious it would be while he had a full out breakdown.

It didn't even occur to me that I could have broken one of the dollars he gave me for the cake until I was on my way to my car. In my defense though, I was afraid this guy could go off at any moment.

He also gave me what seemed to be a very genuine thank you after I gave him his penny.

The birthday daughter eating alone is epic. Me and my mom, went out for dinner a few years ago, and I was going to leave a tip, but she wanted to do it instead. It was something where 3-4 dollars probably would've been a decent tip. Anyways as I'm leaving I see there's no tip, but she says she's already tipped. She doesn't want me to tip. I'm confused and suspicious so I start lifting the dirty dishes off the table, and sure enough I see a single dollar coin (canadian) under one of the plates. I drop another 2 on top and walk out.

Lame story, but the amount of deception, planning, and stinginess that went into it made me remember it a decade later. Though she was just trying to save me money or take credit for tipping or whatever.

I've had at least two instances where I was leaving a good tip and one of the people I was with chastised me to the point of irritation for leaving so much.
It's my money, let me waste it,it won't cost you anything, yet they act if it painfully does.

Well cheap people are by far the worst people on the planet to deal with, to be friends with, to be related to.

The. ****ing. Worst.

I think I only hate full blown racists more, or the socially inept. Those kinda go together.
