lol exactly what I was thinking.

$12 before tax should be around $1 for tax and $2 for tip, so $15.

No, I tip ridiculous amounts. He tips 10% if the service was fantastic. Rarely more. Sometimes nothing. Oftentimes I would feel bad and tip more to make up for his poor amount. Was always really awkward when it wasn't clear who tipped what when the waitress came around and the tip was lousy. They probably always assumed I stiffed them being 30 years younger and dressed casually, when really it was my boss making $250k a year.

Probably that he wants 50 cents. Maybe for bus fare or something.

We're not supposed to ask any questions. That's the job of Assets Protection, but they have bigger fish to fry.

IDK, they have a very thin wrapping around them that shows any wear pretty easily. These have all felt pristine, which is one of the reasons I think he's just taking them off the shelf.

I am still working at the place where they take us out for a holiday lunch, but we couldn't go to a certain restaurant because someone might have ordered the shrimp last year.

I found out about a new office rule today. We are out of paper towels so I told the woman who orders supplies. She told me she has been instructed to no longer purchase them and when we are low to take a stack from the paper towel dispenser in the ladies room. Apparently the bosses feel this should be included in the office rent.

Seems kind of cheap. My minimum tip at a sit down place is $5.

Amber,

I think you mentioned this before, but don't remember. What kind of business is this?

When I was a kid one of my friends had a dad who was relatively rich, he was the CEO of some small company, don't know the specifics but let's just say they were doing really well. My friend said that every other day for his lunch hour he would go to a busy McDonald's, stand there for 10 minutes looking like he's waiting for something, and then go to the counter saying "I've been waiting for my Big Mac for 10 minutes now, what's taking so long?". Then the staff would be apologetic and give him a free Big Mac and usually some compensation for their "mistake" (free ice cream, soda etc). He'd rotate restaurants of course, and use other chains sometimes. I did not believe this when my friend told me about it. Why would the richest dad I know need free burgers? Then one day I was at this friend's place and the dad asked if we were hungry. We said yes and he took us to a McDonald's, told us to sit down at a table, and we sat there for a while without food. He then walked to the counter, said we had been waiting for our MEALS forever, and pointed at us (two innocent-looking ~10 year olds), and got us two free Happy meals and a Big Mac meal for himself, plus the three apology sundays on the house. I can still remember his wide grin after managing to pull this off. When we had finished eating we drove away in his brand new ~50k car.

I worked at McD's myself later on, and I can confirm that when it gets busy, people can pretty much come to the counter and do this, and unless they are asking for a crazy amount of stuff you just snap give it to them and ask if they want Sundaes too. I once caught a guy doing what the dad was doing, but even then only because based on my experience I knew that these people exist.

In general, in my experience usually the richer the person the more stingy they are (naturally there are exceptions).

All the McD's around here give you order #s, so I can't imagine that scam works anymore

Yeah I've noticed that trend here in North America. In most places Europe they don't even give you a receipt, and they just bring your order to your table if it's not ready in full while you order it. Or if the burger is missing, they give you the fries and the drink and bring the burger later on.

This is correct.

McD's Employee: Oh, what's your order number sir/madam?
You: Uhhh, 7.
McD's Employee: GTFO

I doubt McD's guy was being "stingy", he just had a boner for beating the system or something.

It's still being stingy.

Whether that's his main motivation or not.

its only stingy if hes stingy in other aspects of life and does similar cheap/scammy things non-food related.

if he only does this specific mcdonalds scam, then he just really likes ****ing over mcdonalds for food. its not really stingy just weird.

A friend would sometimes successfully shout "here!" when employees were looking for a customer who ordered a burger. He wasn't so much stingy in doing that, just a greedy pig and a ****. It would go on top of what he's already stuffed his face with.

People who you are embarrassed to be in public with should no longer be friends. Unless you are cool with that guy and then you are a douchenozzle too.
