Samuri: doing a good job imo. I bet that makes a person's day.

HT: did you think about how many people you two disturbed? Coffee shops, Starbucks in particular, are places to meet in order to use apple products. Coffee shops are certainly not the place for light social interactions while drinking or purchasing coffee.

Not taking 2 seconds to tie your shoes so the laces don't drag all over the floor of a Starbucks seems far weirder to me than taking your shoes off to drive.

I usually wear no-lace loafers. But it was a Sunday and I had lace-up hiking shoes on.

I was not overly familiar. I totally understand the difference you’re raising here and I thought I was maintaining civility and order and no more.

So either he was an outlier or my sense of the conversation was wrong. I happily admit that it could be either one.

I do not think we disturbed anyone. Our conversation was in low tones and nobody else seemed to notice it.

I actually thought about this, but chose not to do it because I got the best possible parking spot and had maybe twenty steps to the door. If I’d had to park across the street, as I often do, I’d have tied them.

Get back to us when you have a similar encounter in your dentist's waiting room.

Maybe he'll get asked for a high five next time

The inspiration for one of pictures in this post was definitely HT.
*thinking of all the ways OOT is going to troll the **** out of me* but I think I will survive it.

What does it say about an individual whose day is made by a rando asking them about produce at the grocer?

That the older lady likes to talk to nice people and be helpful.

You would be surprised how isolated some elderly people can be. That absolutely could have made the day of someone. I think it's a nice thing to do and it takes such minimal effort.

Better summary than I could have done. Your post makes my day Rexx

Leave strangers in public alone, you monsters.
04-09-2018 , 06:24 PM
Problem with talking to a random elderly person is the odds are incredibly high they won't shut up and they will ignore all social cues that you want to exit the conversation, so you don't get a light 30 second convo that brightens their day, you get 10 minutes about random **** and and are forced to be rude to finally free yourself from their clutches

All I did was respond to a guy that started a conversation, you misanthropes!

You’re a misanthrope too. Did you learn this in jail?

Duùde.... you not only have reading comprehension problems, you are mean and dumb.

From the people on this forum, whose age I know, two fall into category elderly. Both are a ton more interesting than you are.

I'm fine with being in the minority on this one. My example makes me sound like a tool applying for sainthood I guess, but half of it is just seeing how people react to having their bubble broken. The keyword is "occasionally" of course. This is far from an original thought obv, but I do think that technology tends to isolate us in our day to day surroundings while it connects us remotely. Tempering that to some degree is a good thing imo.

Lapka brooks no ageism. How do you pronounce "duùde"?

Lapka,

I still like you despite that picture of your barefoot up on the furniture in a public place. That said, you're wrong on this one. Alobar might be a little messed in the head, after living in fear of being shanked or shtupped, but he's never come across as mean or dumb. He also made a valid point.

Who are the two OOT posters you classify as elderly?
