If someone were to make me a nice cup of gyokuro every day I'd definitely drink it, but it was way too much work to steep it and throw out the first steeping and then have to steep it again, and then try to figure out how many times I should steep the same leaves.
There's a distinct possibility I make my tea "wrong" but not being an anally retentive tea maker ensures I drink delicious tea everyday rather than waiting for the perfect time to make that perfect cup of tea. Do you also have to drink it from perfect bone china teacups with lovely flowers on them?
That's a very interesting way to brew tea. I assume you like it strong!
Codesis,
I love chai but always want to add sugar so it's more an occasional thing for me.
El D,
I drink mostly black but I do slip 1 green tea in everyday. Herbal teas are reserved for later in the day as I don't like to consume caffeine after about 2pm generally speaking, so basically if I'm not drinking wine at night I'm drinking herbal tea. Plus if I'm feeling crook or rundown I'll make myself something from the garden with lemon and honey.
Greg,
We all know you drink tea, now please stop avoiding my question.
I guess. If I have tea it means I want caffeine and it's easier to make than coffee. I used to drink a lot of diet soda, but gave that up a few months ago.
I use stevia which is quite a good sweetener. I'm intending to get some plants for my garden so I can make my own.
El D,
I like jasmine tea with Asian food also. Why is herbal tea worthless to you? Lack of caffeine?
Microbet,
Good job giving up the diet soda. I try not to drink soda too often but if I do it's the normal stuff. The diet stuff tastes gross and chemically plus I always get a headache when I've tried drinking it.
Health reasons, but no one thing in particular. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but I felt, like infused with diet coke. This probably sounds crazy, but I was getting a lot of nose bleeds and I haven't had any since I quit.
Rexx,
Regarding sugar soda, I don't really drink sugary drinks at all. Once in a long while I'll have a shake or Thai Iced Tea or something, but 95% of what I drink is water, coffee or tea - mostly water.
Stevia is good, and props to you if you can make your own from your own plants in the future!
I don't usually make my own soft drinks, so don't use stevia often, since there aren't many drinks that use it. I've transitioned mainly from soda to diet soda to only diet sodas that don't have aspartame, which usually means it's sucralose (Splenda).
From the articles I've read and what I've been told, sugar is still the worst for you due to diabetes (despite the current marketing trend back to "real, natural" sugar), then aspartame, and limited info on sucralose, with some claiming that it's safe and fine for you.
I'm not a health expert though, and there are many here who know more than me about diet and nutrition, so I was wondering if anyonehad good further info on sucralose.
I'm not updated on studies in relation to this. I agree that sugar would be an issue if you drank it everyday. Greg probably knows, even if he doesn't drink softdrink.
In conclusion, the extensive database of studies assessing genetic toxicology, short and long term safety, animal and human absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion, reproductive, development, and neurological effects and, most recently human clinical trials in healthy and diabetic subjects by numerous researchers provide a clear demonstration of safety of use of sucralose as a non-caloric sweetener in foods and beverages.
That doesn't sound crazy. I started feeling like I was having side effects from aspartame as well, which is why I switched to sucralose. I try to drink as much water as I can, but I can't do solely water.
